Arriving from Anduze via the D50, park in the first car park at the entrance to the village of Mialet.
(S/E) Walk up a narrow lane in the village. Turn right onto the narrow Rue Bertrand Durand, which soon becomes a paved slanting street.
(1) At the junction, climb up to the right over the rocks. A very stony path climbs steeply for about 1 km; it then continues along a ledge with a beautiful view, on a gentle slope. You will reach a pond.
(2) Enter a chestnut grove and follow the path towards Mas Pages.
(3) Go round Mas Pages on the left, passing several yurts. Then continue along a track suitable for vehicles to the pass, where you join theGR®®44.
(4) Climb to the right to reach the highest point of the route. Then follow the path under the oak trees. After a steep descent along a stony path, you’ll reach a clearing.
(5) Take the path on the right from the clearing, leaving theGR®®44here. You’ll soon reach a forest track; keep to the right on this to reach the hamlet of La Rouvière.
(6) Ignore the path on the right and continue straight on, despite the Yellow Cross, along a wide, tree-lined path. You will come out onto the D450, Route des Puechs. Take it to the right.
(7) Turn right onto the path marked with yellow signs.
(8) Turn left following the markings, then walk alongside and look at a dolmen on a stony mound to the left of the path. You will soon reach the D450 opposite a car park.
(9) Continue rightwards down the slightly sloping tarmac road until you reach a track at elevation 406.
(10) Take this track to the left and continue downhill through the woods to reach Mas de la Baumelle.
(11) Pass between two buildings, follow the stream towards Mas Soubeyran. At the old mine, turn 90° to the right to reach the Musée du Désert at Mas Soubeyran.
(12) Continue to the right, following the red and white markings ofthe GR®®61and 67, to reach the Route des Grottes. At a three-way junction, take the Chemin Andissorgues on the left (marked ‘dead end’), and at the 90° bend, take a path on the right.
(13) Take this path – it is still theGR®® – to reach the hamlet of Trabuc.
(14) Cross the D50 to join a very pleasant path along the banks of the Gardon, which leads back to Mialet and ends opposite the car park where you started (S/E).
