Park in the car park at the entrance to Mas Soubeyran, near the Desert Museum and the picnic area.
Yellow markings throughout the route
(S/E) Head towards the museum following theGR®®61-GR®®67(red and white markings), which you should follow until otherwise indicated. Go round the museum on the right to reach the Mas Soubeyran marker. Continue towards Mialet on the small road that crosses the hamlet, then carry on to join the D50a.
(1) Follow this road to the right with caution. It is not very busy but vehicles do drive quite fast; stick to the left-hand verge. Ignore a road branching off to the right and then, at a fork shortly afterwards, leave the D50a and follow a smaller road to the left.
(2) About fifty metres further on, make sure you spot theGR®® signpost indicating the path to take on the right. Head downhill until you reach the D50. Follow it to the right to cross the Ruisseau de Montcoucou, then immediately turn left onto a path that runs alongside the meadows of the Gardon de Mialet.
Pass close to a submersible footbridge; on the other side of the Gardon is the old Bonté mill. Continue without crossing the Gardon to reach the D50 at the entrance to Mialet.
(3) Continue along the street opposite to reach the “Mialet Rue J. Bernard” signpost. Carry on towards Saint-Jean-du-Gard along the village’s main street. At the “le Temple” signpost, continue towards Saint-Jean-du-Gard. Leave the village of Mialet and head downhill a little to reach the Pont des Camisards.
At the signpost of the same name, continue towards Les Aïgladines. Follow the road for about 500 m. Take care, as this isn’t the most pleasant stretch. The road isn’t very busy, but vehicles can travel quite fast here. Keep to the left-hand verge.
(4) Shortly after a bridge over a stream formed by the confluence of the Ruisseau des Prades and the Ruisseau des Gardies, leave the D50 for a small road that climbs to the right to reach the hamlet of Les Clapiers. Continue straight on along the path that runs alongside the road. This very stony path climbs gradually up to the hamlet of Les Aïgladines and the signpost of the same name.
(5) Leave theGR®® and follow the signs for Les Plans, turning immediately left under some small arches. The path descends the slope through the undergrowth to join the D50; signpost “Les Plans”. Cross with care and follow, opposite and slightly to the left, a small road towards La Borie.
(6) Cross the Gardon de Mialet via the submersible bridge, then continue along the small road which climbs gradually.
(7) At the “La Borie” signpost, continue left towards the Pont des Camisards via theGR®®61(red and white markings). After a very short stretch of road, take a path on the left. This remains level before gradually descending and becoming increasingly stony. Continue along the small road that extends the path past the houses of Mialet to reach the Pont des Camisards.
(8) Caution here! In April 2026, a notice indicates that the path straight ahead, marked in yellow, is not recommended due to falling rocks. You must therefore cross the bridge back towards Mialet and return via the reverse route of the outward journey. At Trabuc, one option is to continue right along the road to reach the submersible bridge just beyond (9) in order to rejoin the original route.
Original route, which remains the route for the time being: Leave theGR®® at the signpost of the same name, and continue straight on towards Le Travès, now following only the yellow markings. The path, between the Gardon river and the cliff, passes through the hamlet of Paussan and then arrives at the Paussan submersible bridge at the ‘Le Travès’ signpost.
(9) Join theGR®®61-GR®®67(red and white markings) and follow them towards Mas Soubeyran, crossing the bridge. Just on the other side of the Gardon, turn onto a path on the right. Further on, you’ll reach another submersible bridge (do not cross it), then head back up to the D50 and look for the “Rouquette” signpost. Follow the signs for Mas Soubeyran, cross the D50 with care and first turn left then right to join a small road leading to the hamlet of Mas Soubeyran (S/E).
