(S/E) From the "Marché aux Cerises" car park on Avenue de la Soie (shaded car park, mini-market, bakery), take Rue du Luol opposite, towards Saint-Julien-du-Serre, then cross the bridge on the right and after 150 m, turn left onto Rue du Vieux Pont until you reach the D104 Privas-Alès road.
Watch out for traffic!
(1) Walk past the house, then turn immediately left and follow a shaded path to the hamlet of Le Chiet.
(2) At the end of the bend, leave the road and descend to the left onto the PR® marked trail. It joins a track which, further on, crosses a bridge and climbs gently into the forest. After 400 m, take the path on the left and continue climbing until you reach a small tarmac road.
(3) Short version on the right (topo-guide): turn left and at the bottom of the descent, follow the Luol to the right and cross the ford to the hamlet of Le Chambon.
Otherwise:
Turn right towards Vesseau. After about 100 m, look for a path on the left (very discreet markings on the tree, see photo), climb up to a sawmill, follow the small road to the left to Le Chomeil and climb to the top of the hamlet to a small square.
(4) Turn left in front of a house with green shutters to take "le Chemin du Facteur" (the Postman's Path) down "la Cote du Luol" to the "Valette" hiking signpost.
(5) Descend left along a rocky, stony path to a small road. At the end of the hairpin bend, a small path on the right leads directly to Pont de Valette. After the bridge and a bend, an unmarked path branches off to the left to Saint-Julien-du-Serre (see photo).
(6) At the end of the path, climb the stairs on the left to the church (very welcoming benches on the forecourt!).
Pass under the arches and follow the road for 1 km to the hamlet of Le Suel.
(7) Turn left towards Saint Privat-la Chastagnette. After the 50 km/h speed limit sign, take the path (on the left next to the house) that descends to the Chambon hiking signpost.

Cross the road and enter the hamlet by passing under a porch. Turn right, ignoring the signpost pointing to the left. The small road joins the D259.
After about 500 m, take the small steep road on the right, then the path that leads to Les Gastauds, which you cross.
(9) At the exit of the hamlet, turn right then left and follow the road for about 100 metres to Aspres les Comtes.
(10) A hairpin bend leads to a track that climbs gently towards L'Houme through a mature forest. Arrive at the "L'Houme" hiking signpost.
(11) Head towards Saint-Privat for 1.5 km along the path known as "des Lépreux", which starts at a small chicane 2 m to the right.
The path arrives at the Croix des Lépreux. Follow the road and turn right into a cul-de-sac.
A concrete path on the left-hand side of a porch leads down to Avenue de la Soie in front of an old silk mill at a place called Le Mazelier.
(12) Walk along the avenue to the pedestrian crossing on the left and continue in the same direction, then turn right under a porch.
(13) After about 15 metres, turn left and follow the path between the canal and the Ardèche river to a modern building (EHPAD). Go up opposite and turn left just after the public garden; walk along it, pass behind the tennis court and go up the stairs (S/E).
