In Aubenas, take the road towards Privas. At the exit of Saint-Privat, at the roundabout (Garden Centre), take the road towards Lussas. Almost at the end of the straight road, park on the left (one or two spaces) at the entrance to the path, just before the bridge over the Louyre.
(S/E) At the hiking sign, take the main path that climbs towards "Croix de l'Houme", marked in white and yellow. Follow it for about 3km in a north-easterly direction.
(1) At the intersection, turn right onto the hairpin bend, also marked in white and yellow. It heads south-east then north-east.
(2) On the descent, at the large intersection, look for the oak tree on the right and the dolmen. Ignore the path that descends towards the valley on the left, continue to the "Croix de l'Houme" hiking sign, and take the main road that curves to the right (towards Saint-Laurent-sous-Coiron / Sevenier). The road descends slightly.
(3) As soon as it heads due south, turn onto the first path at a right angle on the left which climbs slightly, still marked in white and yellow, about ten metres away. It turns to the right after 150 metres, continue. The path heads due south along the hillside, curving towards the east and then north-east.
(4) Look out for a fork in the path. The wider path heads due north and climbs slightly. Take the smaller path on the right. The fork forms a small triangle of paths, with a red arrow marked on a tree inside the triangle. Shortly afterwards, you will find the white and yellow markings again. The path becomes narrower and more uneven, winding above the canyon before descending into it. Cross the stream bed and take the path opposite that goes uphill.
(5) At the first intersection, take the path on the right that climbs (alternative route: see Practical Information) and arrives in front of a few houses (the one opposite has been recently renovated) in the hamlet of Sévenier.
(6) At the bottom of the houses, take the path that descends and avoids the large bend in the road, which is clearly visible. Join a small tarmac road and follow it downhill, heading generally south, for 500m.
(7) At the crossroads (calvary), turn right onto the small unpaved road (an old Roman road). Follow it continuously for about 3km. At the first and second right-angle bends, there are beautiful views of the canyon. Join the departmental road at a bend.
(8) Under the power line, follow the road downhill for 200 metres, then take the track on the left. After a sharp left turn, continue for 120 metres and take the path on the right which descends and joins the departmental road further down. Follow the road straight ahead and return to the starting point at Pont de Louyre (S/E).
