(1) Ignore the fork in the path leading to the château, cross the small clearing and reach the Croisette crossroads.

(2) Climb to the summit of Pic Saint-Loup and enjoy the panoramic view.

(3) Head back down to the Croisette crossroads.

(2) Continue to the right on theGR®® towards Cazevieille.

(4) Pass the path to the car park on your left and reach the village.

(5) Come out onto the D113, follow it to the right and pass in front of the church (water point).

(6) About 150 m after the water point, turn right onto a road. Continue straight on, leaving the reservoirs on your left.

(7) At the next junction, take the path on the left, through the woods.

(8) Just before the main road, take the path on the right which leads back to the road a little further on. Follow it to the right for 150 m. Then take the track on the left and follow it to the village of Mas-de-Londres. At the square, turn left.

(9) Go under the archway and follow the path to the edge of the Mas de la Liquière.

(10) Take the road on the left to the small business park (refreshments available at the small supermarket).

(11) Pass under the D986 and enter Saint-Martin-de-Londres via the Route du Littoral. Stay on this road until you reach the Place de la Fontaine.

(12) Leave the village via Rue du Pourtalet (cemetery), then Rue du Cornier, Rue de l’Eure and Rue de Fanabregu.

(13) Walk past the disused factory, go through the gate, cross the road and continue straight ahead along a path running parallel to the D32.
(14) At the junction with Route du Mas de Bouis, continue along the path opposite, then take a wide track, cross two large junctions and follow a track to the right.

(15) Ignore the turn-off to the right for the Domaine de Cazarils and turn left to join the road, following it for 200 m before turning right off it. You will reach the Dolmen de la Draille (in good condition).

(16) Continue straight on. At the point with an altitude of 255, turn left then immediately right. Continue to a road and follow it to the right for 80 m.

(17) At a bend, leave the road to the right. Join another road, follow it straight on, then turn left and you’ll come out onto the D32. Follow it to the right to reach the centre of Viols-le-Fort. Head towards the church.

(18) Walk past the church and continue along Rue des Calades, then along Chemin du Mas de Soulas. You will come to the access road to the quarry.

(19) Follow it to the left for 500 m.

(20) Take a stony track on the left, which runs alongside the road and the quarry.

(21) At the crossroads, take the track on the left and head down into a small valley.

(22) Once you reach the houses of Cantagrils, take a path that climbs to the right.

(23) Cross a track, go round the Priory and take the road on the right to the Saugras inn for the night’s accommodation (E).

A very pleasant hike with no real difficulties apart from the distance and the climb up to Pic Saint Loup, which remains technical, especially in wet weather: 27km / 7 hours 15 minutes (including a 15-minute break) / 675m total elevation gain.
Highlights:

  • Views from all four sides of Pic Saint Loup.
  • Ascent of Pic Saint Loup with its breathtaking views of the foothills of the Cévennes, Mont Ventoux and the Mediterranean Sea (during the climb).
  • Crossing.

Negatives:

  • Very crowded on the ascent and then on the descent after 11.00 am.

I strongly recommend doing this GRP in two stages, with a stopover in Saugras and returning the next day.
