Description of the walk

Park in the Port du Légué car park near the Pont de Pierre.

(S/E) Follow the path to the right of the café and walk alongside the Gouët, following the yellow markings. You’ll arrive at the Vieille Côte de Gouët.

(1) Take this road to the left, then immediately turn right onto Rue du Moulin à Papier. Then turn left to reach the Bois Boissel car park.

(2) At the car park, go through the barrier and take the path furthest to the right.

(3) As you leave Bois Boissel, turn left onto Rue de la Caquinerie and continue until you reach Rue Turgot.

(4) Turn right and take the second left, Rue Colbert, until you reach the junction.

(5) Turn right, go round the roundabout and head back down Allée Diderot.

(5) Carry on straight ahead until you reach the steps.

(6) Take the 200 steps down to Rue de la Fontaine Saint-Brieuc and head left until you reach the roundabout. Take Rue du Légué until you reach the staircase on the right.

(7) Turn into this stairway. At the top, take the first left onto Boulevard Lamartine, then immediately left onto Rue Lesage. Pass five junctions until you reach the junction with Rue Michel Colombe. Turn left, then right onto Rue Charles Le Goffic.

(8) At number 49 on the street, turn left to join the small path at the end of the lane. At the junction, head up to the right and continue uphill, keeping to the left, until you reach Tertre Aubé.

(9) Stunning views over the port of Légué, the mouth of the Gouët and Saint-Brieuc Bay. In the distance, the Plérin plateau and the Saint-Laurent-de-la-Mer neighbourhood. Carry on straight ahead until you reach Boulevard de Plélo.
Follow it and, at the end, turn right, then carry on straight ahead until you reach the footpath opposite the École les Merles. Take the small path on the left which runs alongside the Saint-Michel Cemetery.

(10) Turn right to head down into the Gouédic valley. Then keep to the left until you reach the road.

(11) Cross the road at the pedestrian crossing and go round the barrier to head down to the right and then to the left into the Gouédic valley. Once at the bottom, head left to walk alongside the park and arrive beneath the Pont de Toupin. At the next junction, turn left, then right to walk alongside the sewage treatment works, and continue to the roundabout.

(12) Turn left towards Plérin and walk along the Port du Légué, passing under the Gouët Viaduct to reach the Stone Bridge (S/E).

A fairly easy route, very pleasant and well signposted. A wonderful way to discover Saint Brieuc.

In the description at no. 2, you need to take the path on the right before the barrier, not after it. At no. 7, Rue Lesage ends and you need to carry on along Rue Duguay Trouin. A lovely walk, but I would have liked to have had a look around the town centre.

A lovely walk to explore the Briochin region.
It took me 2 hours and I covered 7½ km, whereas the route was advertised as taking 3 hours and covering over 9 km. If I’d known, I’d have paced myself differently, as I did it quite quickly anyway to make the most of the light and the timid February sunshine.
Nevertheless, I’d recommend this walk if you want to get to know Saint-Brieuc better, both from the harbour and from a slightly higher vantage point.

Hi,
We completed this route in 2 hours 20 minutes, following the direction indicated on the app.
The first part takes you through woodland, the second through the old quarters of St Brieuc – which aren’t particularly interesting – and the return route takes you through the Gouëdic Valley and the port of Légué.
I don’t think this walk is particularly interesting in winter; it should be much more charming in spring.
I’d like to congratulate the tourist office on the work they’ve done on this route.
