Refuge des Drayères walks
The Long and Rond Lakes
A family loop in the bottom of the Clarée valley to discover two beautiful mountain lakes.
Important note: During the summer (14 July to 15 August), access by private car from Névache Ville Haute to the car park at the Laval terminus is impossible between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. A shuttle bus runs regularly to allow everyone to enjoy this beautiful valley. It is advisable to park your vehicle in the car parks at the entrance to Névache (Roubion).
The Cerces tour
A beautiful, challenging hike that takes you around the Cerces Massif, from lake to lake...
There are a few tricky sections for those who are afraid of heights
Lakes of the upper Clarée Valley via Les Rochilles
This is an easy route that allows you to see the three most accessible lakes in the upper Clarée Valley. If the weather is fine, you won't be able to resist the temptation to cool off in the many pools created by the torrent, and the surroundings are majestic.
Pointe de Rochachille via Lac Biron
A hike where you’ll be captivated by the unchanging beauty of Lac Biron with its emerald blue-green waters and by the panoramic view from Pointe de Rochachille stretching from Mont Blanc to Mont Viso. The ridge is somewhat exposed and may be daunting for those prone to vertigo.I recommend supplementing the description by using the Visorando app.
Short circular loop from Laval to Les Drayères
At the end of the world, beneath the Cerces massif, this short, family-friendly circular walk leads to the Drayères refuge via the stony track on the left bank of the Clarée, before returning along the magnificent, bucolic little path on the right bank.

Lacs de la Madeleine - Lac Lavoir via Mont Thabor
Third day of the circular with ascent of Mont Thabor (highest point of the route) via the oldGR® trail along the Roche du Chardonnet ridge and the Valmeinier Glacier, which presents certain difficulties compared to the newGR® route.
As with the other days of the circular, this route is intended for very experienced hikers who are accustomed to high mountains.
Laval car park - Lac des Cerces
First day of a 4-day circular starting from the Laval car park in the Upper Clarée Valley. As with the other parts of this circular, this route is intended for experienced hikers who are accustomed to high mountains.
Lac des Cerces - Lacs de la Madeleine via Pointe des Cerces
Day 2 in the Clarée Valley: ascent of Pointe des Cerces (unmarked mountain route), passage to Lac and Source de la Clarée and climb to the second bivouac at Lacs de la Madeleine (off-trail on the final section).
As with the other parts of this circular, this route is intended for experienced hikers who are accustomed to high mountains.
Chalet de Laval - Alpe du Lauzet
A traverse of the Cerces massif via one of its highest passes (Béraudes) and some very beautiful lakes. And a chance to see much of the previous day’s descent route, as well as the many lakes on the other side.In early summer, the route can be made difficult by the presence of snow in the Lac des Béraudes cirque or a snow cornice on the Col des Béraudes (speaking from experience).
Refuge de Terre Rouge - Le Prec
This is the last stage of this three-day route, with one last beautiful climb. A final alpine pass, a few lakes, and the return via the Fenêtre du Prec to round off this lovely Tour du Thabor.
Lac Lavoir - Laval car park via the Pic du Lac Blanc
Last day of the circular, returning to the Laval car park via the Col du Vallon and the Pic du Lac Blanc, from where you can see the route of the previous three days.
Fontcouverte Campsite - Lac de la Ponsonnière
For this first three-day stage, the route offers magnificent views of the Écrins Massif at the Col du Chardonnet and then of the Grand Lac. We have chosen to camp at Lac de la Ponsonnière, but it is entirely possible to camp on the heights of the Grand Lac, near the pastoral house. This allows you to shorten the duration of this first day slightly and, above all, reduce the elevation gain by around 200m.
Lac de la Cula via the circular trail
A beautiful hike with magnificent scenery. The climb to the Ricou refuge is a little steep but not particularly difficult. Once you reach the circular path, the route is very easy, almost flat until you reach the Torrent de la Cula. The view over the entire valley is truly superb. From the lake, the trail descends to Laval.
Lac des Méandes - Mont Thabor - Valfréjus
The hike starts after the bivouac at Lac des Méandes (below Col des Méandes) to reach the summit of Mont Thabor and admire the 360° view of the mountains. Then return via the Refuge du Mont Thabor and descend to Valfréjus.
