The walk starts at Place du 14 Juillet, in front of the town hall (Pujols sur Dordogne castle)
(S/E). Head towards the war memorial and turn right (first exit off the roundabout). After 100 metres, turn right at the first house to go behind the castle and follow the path.
This spot offers a view of the back of the château and the plain.
At the end of this path, turn left and head down towards the church.
You can walk around the church to admire the landscape. The church is also open (from November to March from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., from April to October from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.), so feel free to go inside to see a 6th-century Merovingian sarcophagus.
(1) At the stop sign, turn right to go down towards the cemetery. Cross the main road and head towards Gueynich to admire the 19th-century wash house at the bottom of the hill on the right.
There is a picnic table next to the wash house.
Resume your journey and climb up towards the hamlet of Fourreau. Halfway up the hill, on the left, there is another wash house. Turn left towards Caupène, continue straight on for about 700 metres and take the grassy path that runs alongside the woods and then the vineyards.
(2) At the edge of the woods, follow the path that turns left between the vineyards to reach a tarmac road. After the first bend, turn right onto the path between the vineyards and the woods to climb up towards the hamlet of Martin. After the third plot (meadow), turn left.
On your left, you can see the fortified house of La Borie (private property) dating from the 15th and 16th centuries.
At the copse, descend towards the tarmac road.
(3) Cross the D232 departmental road and take the small road opposite. On the left, you will see another wash house. Follow the path between the vineyards and Château Lacoste. At the small road, turn right and then immediately left after the rows of vines. At the end of the path, turn right onto the tarmac road and follow it for about 200 metres.
(4) Turn left at the first intersection (at the corner of the house with lavender blue shutters). Go up the small tarmac road to enter the woods and follow the path to the edge of the woods.
As you climb, you will see tree houses, which are hunting blinds for migratory birds (do not climb up there - private property).
At the end of this path, at the top, turn right and walk along the woods and vineyards. Take the path opposite that enters the woods and follow it to a place called Lafuge, walking alongside the vineyards.
(5) Cross the hamlet. On the right, below, you will see a magnificent 19th-century wash house with a floor made of Gironde tiles.
At the corner of the house, at the stop sign, turn right and then, at the next crossroads, turn left.
(6) At the intersection, turn right onto the path between the vineyards and follow the path on the left that runs alongside the woods to rejoin the tarmac road. Continue straight ahead and turn left onto the path between the vineyards and the meadow. At the electricity pole, take the path on the left and continue to the tarmac road.
(7) At the road, turn left. At the T-junction, turn left then right towards Les Granges. Pass between the houses and take the path between the vineyards to reach the D232 departmental road.
(8) At the departmental road, turn right and follow the road. When you reach the village of Pujols, take the street on the left (Rue de la Vieille Côté) to see the last wash house on the route below on the left.
(9) Turn right and climb the steps to reach Place du Général de Gaulle. Finally, turn left to return to the starting point. (S/E)
