Description of the walk

Start at Doulezon, by the car park next to the church and cemetery.

(S/E) Return to the central crossroads in Doulezon (signposted for 3 walking routes with green, red and yellow arrows marked by our cheerful Doulezon pots). Turn left onto the road called "Le Bourg Sud", then immediately right. Then ignore a junction on the right and head south towards Micouleau and then Touron. Take the descent to Touron, passing a family tomb and then an old wash house. Continue along the shaded road beside the Touron spring, where a tropical atmosphere seems to reign. You will come to a fork.

(1) Continue straight ahead (leave the yellow-marked path on your left). When the road bends to the left, continue along the path opposite and then along the path through the trees to reach the valley and catch sight of the imposing Maison Dartigues on your right. Continue almost to the end of the track at a junction.

(2) Take the path climbing up to the right onto the hill. At the hamlet, take the road to the right and continue north-north-east towards Diodet, ignoring a path on the right. Continue in the same direction to reach Béros, located almost at the next junction.

(3) Turn left and cross the hamlet of Luchet, still following the red arrows and ignoring a path on the right. Follow the track that continues the path, heading west, then turn right to reach the D18.

(4) Cross over and continue straight on towards Martineau and the Moulin de Marchemal (renamed Peyronin), ignoring the road on the right before the mill. Shortly after the mill, the road bends to the left. Immediately after, you’ll reach a crossroads.

(5) Turn right towards the north-east. When the road bends to the right, continue straight on along the path until you reach a Y-junction.

(6) Turn right at the two oak trees towards Peyriquey, then follow the road to Lafuge, keeping to the right.

(7) Turn left and, at the next junction, keep right to rejoin the D18. Follow it to the right for a few dozen metres until you reach the mill.

(8) Turn left and ignore a path on the right to reach a junction.

(9) Turn left again on the descent to return to Doulezon. Keep to the right until you reach the starting point (S/E).

Hello
I did the walk again today, 1 January 2025, but in an anti-clockwise direction.
Nothing more to add to what I said previously, except that I’ve ‘adjusted’ the route to avoid the sections that are very muddy at the moment, as the region’s clay soil doesn’t absorb water well after wet months—for example, at the start (going anti-clockwise) where the path crosses the vineyards… a path that’s absolutely waterlogged. So I’ve learnt my lesson!!
The winter season (bare trees) offers a better view of the mill near Lauley.
Consequently, at La Devise we took the D18 for 500 metres (which was quiet on this first day of the year) before turning right towards Béros, then Diodet. Before Diodet, to avoid going down into the valley of the Escouach stream, which is overgrown and very muddy, I headed towards Château Dartigues, whose grounds are well worth a look, guarded by its… stone lions.
This way, you reach Doulezon without wading through the mud.
This shortens the walk by about 750 m.
Best regards.

Hello
We completed this hike on Sunday 16 June, walking clockwise.
The red markings were spot on, sometimes following the GR® system with crosses indicating the wrong direction (some local councils or departments could learn a thing or two from this!!) – so a big thank you to the walking club in this little village.
A very pleasant route along many quiet country lanes, with some gentle hills, numerous hamlets and houses adorned with flowers in this month of June. Vineyards and a few fields interspersed with fallow land follow one another, along with pastures for sheep and donkeys. Beautiful mills, one visible (with the fitting name of Marchemal (sic)), the other not. A very beautiful view of Pujols when you’re at Peyronin.
Perhaps best avoided in hot weather as you’re often out in the open.
Thank you for this route.

The route is very well signposted, so you can leave your mobile phone in your rucksack. Be careful at point 6, though: the trail leads right up to the ruined house, but the route description clearly states that you should go past the two oak trees. I didn’t see any signposts; they were either missing or hidden. It’s not enough to get lost, though! It also seems there might be an issue with a private road...
This does not detract from the remarkable work of signposting and maintenance carried out by the hikers’ association. Thanks to them.
Personally, I really enjoyed the first part, but found the end a bit monotonous.
The route is 90% on roads with little traffic.
Varied countryside scenery and wildlife.
