The start is at the Les Angles technical centre on the ridge.
From Les Angles, go up Avenue de Balcère to the top of the road junction. Leave the road that goes down to the Étang de Balcère. Turn left onto Rue des Sorbiers and at the end, first turn right then left and you will arrive at Rue de la Piste Verte.
(S/E). Be careful not to take the track on the left, but go down and take the track below, passing through a small wooden passage. Follow this wide marked path to the Étang de Balcère (Estany de Vallsera).
(1) At the road, turn left and head towards the lake. Walk along the lake and follow the forest track until you reach a wooden sign on the right-hand side of the path at an altitude of 1,830 metres. This sign indicates that the Refuge de Ganyades is straight ahead and the Etang de Balcère is behind it.
(2) Leave the track and take a well-marked path that branches off to the left (west) and is signposted a little further up the descent. Continue climbing through the forest on this good path until you reach a fork.
(3) Turn left to continue climbing until you reach another fork.
(4) Continue on the main path to the Cabane dels Pastors, at an altitude of 2200 metres, near the Tres Fonts fountain.
(5) From here, there is no real path to the peak. At first, follow the trail that starts behind the hut. Then the route is marked with cairns until you reach an altitude of about 2300 metres (north-west direction)
(6) From there, you can either climb directly to Puig del Pam (due north) or choose a less steep route. To do this, head for the left shoulder, then climb up to the right (north) until you reach the marker indicating the summit.
This summit is often windy, but you can still find a sheltered spot a little below to eat.
(7) The descent to the Refuge de la Balmette is not marked, but it is not difficult if the weather is clear. Follow the shoulder called Serra dels Alarbs in a west-southwest direction.
(8) Continue along this ridge until you reach the CapcirGRP ®.
(9) Take theGRP® marked in red and yellow on the left heading south to reach the Cabane de la Balmette.
(10) Turn left onto the marked trail, leaving theGRP®, to reach the Étang de la Balmette.
(11) Walk along the right side of the pond to reach a trail junction at an altitude of 1,920 metres, marked by a sign indicating Lac de Balcere.
(12) Take the path on the left and head north-east (Rocatells sector on the map).
Take a passage with a handrail to help you descend. This is not difficult, except perhaps in wet weather when the stones may be slippery. Continue along this well-marked path to Lac de Balcère.
(1) Take the same path back to the car park (S/E).
