Departure from the Étang de Balcère car park.
(S/E) From the car park, head towards the lake and go around it on the left. Further on, you will pass the fishing guard's refuge.
Stay on the forest track for a little over 2 km, ignoring all side paths.
You will arrive at an intersection announcing the Jaça (refuge) de la Ganyades.
(1) Turn left to reach the refuge (not open to the public but ideal for enjoying the views, particularly of Puig del Pam).
Return to the intersection.
(1) Continue along the track on the left, which will take you to another junction with a hairpin bend to the right.
(2) Head south-east and ignore the path opposite to stay on the track. Stay on this track until you reach a junction.
(3) Take the track on the right, which will lead you to another intersection with a signpost.
(4) The route takes you off the track, but before that, stay on the track to reach the ruins of the Church of Vallsera (the only remains of the old village of the same name that was decimated by the Black Death in the 14th century).
(5) Return to the intersection.
(4) This time, leave the track and continue along the south-west facing path that takes you back to the Balcère Pond. Be careful on the last part of this section, as there are some nice little climbs along the Vallsera Stream before you reach the road.
(6) All you have to do now is take the road on the right to reach the car park and finish your hike (S/E).
