Description of the walk

When arriving in Balaruc-les-Bains from the D2, pass the pond with picnic tables, then ideally park in one of the parking spaces on the right-hand side of the street (Avenue de la Gare).

(S/E) Walk along the street towards the village centre and, before you start walking alongside the campsite, turn right onto a street following the sign for the Ancient Mediterranean Garden. You will arrive at the entrance to the site (see details below).

(1) After visiting the gardens, turn right as you leave. The street soon becomes a path running alongside the campsite’s boundary wall. Continue along the path until you reach a crossroads. Turn left (colourful houses, post office building) and head towards the shore of the Étang de Thau.

(2) Follow the promenade to the left until you reach the roundabout (old wind turbine).

(3) Go round the roundabout on the left, cross Rue de la Gare, then head towards the small stream, just before crossing the next road. Follow the path to explore the wetland (information board). You’ll arrive at an open area by a pond with information boards.

(4) Then take the footbridge and leave the site via a path that runs alongside the stream. You will end up at the edge of Rue de la Gare, where you parked (S/E).
