Description of the walk

Car park in the village centre. Free with no time limit.
Follow the Red Rectangle 22 signposts all along the route.

(S/E) Head towards the Semois bridge and continue along the tarmac road towards the village exit (N865). You’ll reach the first turn-off on the left at the edge of the woods.

(1) Take this path towards the woods, following the sign for “Les Acenses”.

(2) At the Roche du Corbeau viewpoint, follow the path and continue through the woods. You will reach another viewpoint.

(3) Continue along the path that climbs up the hill, following signpost 22 to reach the Roche de la Dampirée.

(4) At the Dampirée viewpoint on the left, join a tarmac road and continue along the dirt track on the left-hand side of it.

(5) Stay on the path that runs alongside the safety barriers and head towards the crossroads.

(6) Turn left (signposted Redoute). At the first Fork in the road, turn right to reach the Saurpîre viewpoint.

(7) Continue to follow the signposts and reach the road (you can retrace your steps to avoid this section and return to the previous junction). Cross the road and continue through the woods.

(8) Turn right and follow the path to the village. Cross the footbridge over the Ruisseau des Acenses. Turn right onto the road, then left towards the Semois bridge and head for the car park (S/E).

A lovely walk with stunning views from start to finish, amidst beautiful spring blossoms.
We came across very few people, despite the glorious weather over the Whitsun weekend.
A few steep sections on the way up and (especially) on the way down really do require good walking boots.
The access road is very narrow and parking is very limited.

A lovely walk with some stunning views that are well worth the detour. The app is brilliant for finding your way… even if you have absolutely no sense of direction.
It was very hot (yes, it does happen in Belgium!) but the route keeps you in the shade.
You obviously need to be aware (and the route profile makes this clear) that if you go downhill at the start of the walk, you’ll have to go back up at the end.

A lovely forest walk with beautiful views over the Semois. There are a few steep sections, but they’re not too long! Be careful of slippery conditions in wet weather, though. Trekking poles are a good idea!
We’ll do it again when the weather’s nice...

The difficulty rating needs to be reviewed, as the Bouillon Tourist Office classifies it as difficult. We think the section up to the Dampiree rock is difficult: the path is steep, sloping and slippery.
Serious doubts about the stated altitudes.
A superb walk!
