Walk in Ronchères

A short walk connecting the village’s two beautiful heritage sites: Saint-Fiacre Church, whose chancel vault features a beautiful mural depicting the four evangelists, and a lovely wash house built in the bed of the Ru de Septfonds.

Description of the walk

Park in the church car park, Place Maurice de Vergennes.

(S/E) Visit the church (usually open; features a ceiling mural in the chancel, a painted altar and two carved heads at the back of the nave), then take the main street, Rue de Montréal, passing the old hotel-restaurant (well). Turn right onto Rue Louis Perilliers. At the junction, turn left onto Rue Saint-Fiacre.

(1) Cross Rue de Montréal and follow the path opposite (signpost pointing towards Lavoir, a planter which may be an old wheelbarrow used to carry laundry?). Cross the Ru de Septfonds and you will soon arrive at the wash house (a beautiful semi-enclosed basin framed by two covered shelters, a well and a cross).

(2) Retrace your steps back to the road.

(1) Follow it to the right and then straight on to return to the church and the car park (S/E).
