Description of the walk

Depart from the Calanque car park, at the foot of the municipal campsite and very close to the leisure centre.

(S/E) Leave the car park as close as possible to the campsite entrance. Facing the lake, turn immediately left onto the path, which is mostly sandy and runs along the upper part of the reservoir.

(1) At the left corner of the marker post, there is a path lined with a hedge. Take this path and you will reach the edge of the woods. Further on, a sunken path takes over and leads to a cross path.

(2) Continue by turning left. When you reach a log storage platform, continue straight ahead on the stabilised path. You will soon reach a first crossroads.

(3) Take the path on the left under the trees. This also leads to a stabilised track, which you should follow for about a hundred metres. Leave this track, which branches off to the right, and take the path that runs alongside the enclosed fields on either side. You will come to a crossroads.

(4) Cross the crossroads carefully and take the road that descends to the left, keeping to the right-hand side. At the large bend, leave the road and continue straight ahead towards the lake. When you reach the crossroads formed by the cross-road and the road leading to the jetty, go straight ahead and continue to La Coupure. Do not cross it.

(5) Retrace your steps and, at the junction with the cross road, turn right onto the sandy path or walk along the bank if the water level allows. Pass the restaurants. At the end, turn left and cross the road carefully to reach the car park (S/E).

Notes

(5) La Coupure: this place is so named because when the lake was built, there was a road connecting Treigny to Saint-Fargeau at this point. It was therefore cut off and diverted downstream of the reservoir. The name Route Neuve (New Road) persisted for years and was lost over time.
During low water periods, it is possible to cross the junction between the two bodies of water and venture into the much wilder part of La Forge and Le Bois des Colas.

In the dry season, the paths are in good condition. In wet weather, some passages can be more difficult.
Toilets are available in the car park.
Swimming is permitted under certain conditions. Information here.

This route is marked in accordance with the marking charter of the Communauté de Communes de Puisaye-Forterre and is numbered 86 on yellow plaques.
The trail was marked by the association À chacun son chemin en Puisaye-Forterre in December 2021.

A pleasant hike offering views of various landscapes, meadows and forests, but not much of Lake Bourdon itself. As a result, it is fairly quiet and peaceful, despite the noise from cars nearby.
In my opinion, the difficulty is underestimated and I wouldn't say that "the paths are of good quality". In some places, yes, but there are many long, very stony sections, a bit like walking in a dry river bed. A little bit is fine, but there are really a lot of them and I had difficulty several times (I walk with a cane). We went there in the middle of summer, in very good weather, and it hadn't rained for days. So avoid it if you have young children, a pushchair or any difficulty walking or keeping your balance.
It took us 20 minutes longer than the estimated time (due to the difficulties mentioned above). Nothing serious.
Wear long clothing, as in some places the vegetation is dense and there are lots of brambles and nettles. Also note that the markings at the start of the trail have disappeared. They reappear further along.
Thank you for this hike. Despite the difficulties, we enjoyed getting off the beaten track.

An interesting route, although we only followed part of the itinerary along the lake,
which has multiple passages. Crossing the lake on the dyke is a good alternative.
