Park in the Plat des Peyres or Pla de Laspeyres car park.
(S/E) Below the car park, take the footbridge over the stream. Then turn left and follow the yellow-marked path along the mountainside. This path climbs up the Coume de Varilhes towards the south-west. You will reach a cattle enclosure (with a metal gate).
(1) Take the path on the left to descend towards a footbridge. The path then turns sharply left. Take the footbridge and continue on the other side heading due east. The climb is steady and easy
After a slightly steeper but fairly short and easy section, you will reach a small pond partially covered with vegetation. Continue along the path (still marked in yellow) which runs alongside two larger ponds before reaching the largest of the Fontargente ponds.
(2) Follow the GRT66 to the right, which runs along the right side of the pond. Continue south to reach the 'Port de Fontargente', the highest point of the hike at 2262m.
Important note: In June, there may still be some snowfields, which are easy to get around.
(3) Descend via the same route to reach the crossroads of the lakes.
(2) Turn right onto the GRT66 for a few metres, then leave it on the right at the next crossroads and take the yellow-marked path on the left. Continue along this yellow-marked path until you reach a viewpoint overlooking the Rhule refuge opposite.
(4) Here, the path begins to descend more steeply. Continue until you reach a metal footbridge over the stream.
(5) Cross the footbridge and continue downhill on the left along the Aston stream to reach the Pla de Laspeyres car park (S/E).
