Description of the walk

Park at the exit of Saint-Coulomb at a crossroads with several stop signs.

(S/E) Take the Chemin de l'Hermitage for about 100 metres, then continue along the path, where there are barriers, until you reach Rue du Lac, then turn left. Continue along this road until you reach the Lac district, then take the coastal road, the D201.

(1) Follow it to the right until you reach the start of Du Guesclin beach. Cross the road to join the GR®34, which is shared with the GRP® du Tour du Pays Malouin. Turn left onto it.

(2) Take the GR®-GRP® marked in white and red on the left and follow the coast to reach Pointe des Grands Nez.

(3) Continue on the GR® and reach the Touesse beach.

(4) Continue along this beach and follow a circular path to reach the end.

(5) Continue north, taking the steps, then reach Pointe de Meinga.

(6) Turn sharply left to follow the west coast and reach the crossroads with the Île Besnard trail.

(7) Leave the GR® here and turn right, following the coast until you reach the crossroads at the entrance to the island.

(8) Here you have two options:
- turn left to go directly to the island car park,
- continue straight ahead to go around the island and then reach the island car park (route).

(9) Keep right along the coast and head to Plage des Courtillons.

(10) Pass it and stay on the coastal path until you reach the GR®34 crossroads at the village of La Guimorais.

(11) Turn left onto the GR®, then leave it on the right onto Rue de la Guimorais, then turn left onto Rue des Chevrets. Join the D201, the coastal road.

(12) Cross it with great caution, take Rue Les Douets opposite, be careful here as the sides are narrow, stay in single file to reach the multiple crossroads at La Barre.

(13) Turn left onto Rue de la Ville Huet to return to the Saint-Coulomb car park (S/E).

A very nice route, but beware of number 1 in the description: the path that joins the GR34 is marked "private" and a bar forbids passage, as well as a rope a little further on. We went through anyway.
Then before point 5, we couldn't find the path to leave the beach and follow the coast. We saw a path but it was too steep. We had to walk on the rocks to find our way back.
Apart from these two points, it was a very nice walk, with the added bonus of tapas at Colette's, a restaurant on the GR34 route, with a great view over the sea.

Beautiful hike. This coastline is magnificent! Be aware that the car parks are very busy at weekends and during the summer. Much of the route follows the GR trail. For the last section, in the countryside, we couldn't find any signposts. So we had to do it the old-fashioned way: with a map.
