(S/E) Park before the railway line, at the station car park or after it, at the beach car park. Take the coastal path westwards. Leave Rue des Claires, which leads to Les Minimes, and follow Chemin de la Gigas through the oyster huts.
(1) After the last huts, the path narrows and becomes pedestrianised. Continue for about 350 metres. You will arrive in front of a private property.
(2) Go around the buildings on the left to stay as close as possible to the coast. Be careful to stay on the path, as the cliff is unstable. You will come to a junction with the Vélodyssée cycle route on the right.
(3) Leave the Vélodyssée on your right and continue straight ahead.
(4) Pass in front of the Maison de la Charente Maritime (departmental headquarters). Continue along the ocean.
(5) Go to the end of Pointe des Minimes. Beautiful view of the islands and the Phare du Bout du Monde lighthouse, accessible at low tide. Continue towards Plage des Minimes, then towards Digue du Lazaret.
(6) Go around the Forum des Pertuis (exhibition hall) and walk along the Bassin du Lazaret. At the end of the car park, leave Avenue de la Capitainerie on your left, turn right and walk along the Bassin Marillac to Avenue des Minimes and its restaurants.
(7) In front of the Table Basque, turn right onto Rue de la Sauvagère. Cross Avenue Marillac at the traffic lights and continue straight ahead along the cliff path. The Vélodyssée cycle route follows this path, and so do we.
Follow the same route as on the way there. Leave Rue de Roux on your left and 300 metres later, the Vélodyssée cycle route branches off to the left.
(3) Follow it, cross Rue des Claires and then the railway line, and immediately turn right onto Petit Chemin de Gatignolle until you reach Lac d'Aytré.
(8) Go around it on the right until you reach the tennis court. Turn right onto Allée des Avocettes towards the railway line and the station car park or the beach, your destination (S/E).
