The trail starts at the car park near the ruins of an old sugar factory, on the small road connecting the Bareto and Crève-Coeur neighbourhoods in Saint-Anne.
The path is wide and has steps in places.
(S/E) From the car park, head west on the southernmost path. Follow this path for about 300 metres.
(1) At a crossroads, take the path on the left that climbs up the side of Piton, going around it on the right (in the direction of travel). When the slope becomes steeper, the path makes a few short hairpin bends.
(2) At the fork, turn sharply left to quickly reach the summit, which has a platform.
(3) The descent follows the same path as the ascent to the car park (S/E).
