Well-marked car park in Bézins-Garaux.
(S/E) From the car park, head east to join the trail.
(1) The loop starts here and can be done in either direction, but we think it's better to go up via the Col de Teyech. So turn left at this point. After that, follow the yellow markings throughout the loop.
(2) A trail climbs up to the right. Take it and wind your way through the forest to gently ascend to the Col de Teyech, taking advantage of the openings in the forest to enjoy the surrounding landscape. The trail, which is wide at first, narrows as you climb towards the pass.
(3) At the Col de Teyech, turn right to descend the other side and continue to follow the well-marked trail. The slope will begin to become steeper until you reach the Pic du Gar, the highest point of the hike. The very last part through a mountain pasture allows you to climb while enjoying a panoramic view.
(4) Pic du Gar with its cross (note that maps sometimes confuse Pic du Gar with the neighbouring Pic Saillant).
Descend from the peak to climb its neighbour, Pic Saillant.
(5) From Pic Saillant, take the path heading east, which is a little difficult to follow as the markings are very sparse. Use the trail to stay on track and follow the path that runs along the ridge below through the woods.
(6) When you come out of the woods into the open area, don't miss the path directly on your right (still marked in yellow), and continue down towards the valley. Pass Col de Caube and head right, due south.
(7) At the next intersection, follow the path on the right towards Bézins Garaux to continue the descent to a stone refuge.
(8) At the shelter, cross the forest path to take the trail that descends to the right and runs along it to the left. Recent tree cutting may have erased the markings, but the trail is clearly visible. Cross a track. Follow this path to the end of the loop, then descend towards Bézins-Garraux.
(1) Continue left to reach the car park (S/E).
