Description of the walk

From the D100 between Agay and Valescure, take the Route du Pic de l'Ours, pass the Grenouillet ford and the Sainte-Baume car park, and park at the Col de l'Évêque car park.

(S/E) Cross the road and head down the path opposite. Once in the Ravin des Lentisques, ignore the path on the left and head back up towards the road.

(1) Turn left onto the road and, shortly afterwards, take the path on the right up towards the Col Notre-Dame. Return to the road.

(2) Turn right at Baisse des Sangliers and, immediately, take the path on the right. Turn right at the three-way junction and head for the western shoulder of Pic d’Aurèle.

(3) Continue to the right to reach Pic d'Aurèle: exceptional views over Cannes and the Gulf of La Napoule, the Lérins Islands, and the Alps in the distance.

(4) Return along the same path.

(3) Keep to the right and head for the Col des Lentisques.

(5) Cross the road and turn right to descend the GR® towards the Cazal de Bœuf ravine. Reach a three-way junction.

(6) Turn left and climb up to the Col Notre-Dame, staying on the GR®. Reach the car park at the pass.

(7) Take the path on the left towards the Dent de l'Ours. Keep to the right at the fork that appears about a hundred metres further on and arrive at the Dent de l'Ours cave.

(8) Continue along the path passing to the right of the Pic de l'Ours and ignore a path on the right further on: views of the Suvières, Mont Vinaigre and the Gulf of Fréjus. You will reach the junction with the path leading to the Grotte de l'Uzel.

(9) If you wish to see the cave, take this path down to the right, then head towards the cave on the left: this detour is not shown on the map. Otherwise, continue straight on, pass above the Grotte de l'Uzel and turn left onto the path which follows the contour lines almost exactly. Ignore a path on the left and you will soon reach the Col des Lentisques.

(5) Turn right onto the road and leave it after about a hundred metres to go down the path on the right. Then take the path on the left to rejoin the road at Baisse des Sangliers.

(2) Cross the road and rejoin, in the opposite direction, the GR® opposite which you took on the way up, heading towards Saint-Raphaël.

(1) Head down the path on the right, then turn left to return to the car park where you started (S/E).
