Circular loop between Houdent and Toeufles

This easy, short walk takes you through a lovely little valley between the woods (where you may spot roe deer) before passing through Rogeant and Toeufles. Look out for some typical Picardy houses as well as the châteaux of Rogeant and Toeufles. The climb back up to the plateau offers a beautiful view of the Trie valley, before heading back to Houdent.

Description of the walk

Parking available around the small square in the hamlet.

(S/E) Return to the junction and follow Rue de Bas Houdent, which descends through the hamlet.

(1) Once at the bottom, take the valley path to the left (not shown on the IGN map).

(2) At the crossroads, turn right onto the path leading back up towards Rogeant. Keep right at the fork just after and continue to the D22.

(3) Head downhill to the left.

(4) At the junction with the D86, take the small street that descends immediately to the left, Rue Mistigris. Follow the path as it continues from the street, turn right onto it and join the road linking Toeufles to Acheux-en-Vimeu.

(5) Turn left and follow the road back up onto the plateau.

(6) At the top of the plateau, turn left onto a track that follows the edge of the Bois de Toeufles.

(7) At the Bois des Châtaigniers, take the path on the left to enjoy the view over the Rogeant valley and return to Houdent (S/E).

Hike through the Longpres-les-Corps-Saint marshes: several intertwined circular loops, making it hard to find your way and very poorly signposted.

A peaceful, countryside route just the way we like it. Beautiful houses, friendly people, castles, woods and fields – a lovely route to explore, taking about two hours. We saw lots of pheasants. The only slight downside was the bit along the road, but it wasn’t too long and there weren’t many cars. Thank you for this route.

Hello, and thank you to the person who put together this short route.
We enjoyed the little village of Houdent, where we had a picnic before setting off on the walk.
At point 1, the path branching off to the left at the bottom of the descent from the village is very pleasant at first, but halfway along and up to point 2 it was quite overgrown and could well become completely blocked. We made our way through anyway, with a few stings from nettles and scratches from brambles thrown in for good measure – nothing serious.
We extended the route slightly by leaving it at point 5 to climb up to the church and chapel (closed), then heading to Bouillancourt and its hidden private château, followed by the Zoteux farm, before rejoining the route at point 6 (a total of 15.7 km).
A very beautiful route through varied landscapes and lovely Picardy houses well worth a few photos.
We only caught a glimpse of a single castle on the way out of Rogeant.
Thanks again for this route.

A short, scenic route that can be completed in an hour and a half at a leisurely pace.
Nothing out of the ordinary, but pleasant in fine, dry weather.
A bit of tarmac with poorly protected pedestrians; fortunately, the road isn’t very busy.
