Description of the walk

Park in the small car park in the hamlet of Bordevieille, between the glass recycling bin and the bus shelter.

(S/E) Continue along the cul-de-sac, at the far end of which, on the left, is one of Larra’s many wells. Then turn left to head down Chemin d’Enberné.

(1) Just past the house with red shutters, turn right onto the small path leading down into the forest: be careful, as a short section is quite steep and, after rain, there may be mud or slippery stones. You’ll emerge at Brame Soif, with a house on your right.

(2) Cross over the Rieu Tort and immediately turn right to follow the stream. Enter the woodland and, at the junction, turn right to cross the small concrete bridge and reach the other bank. Continue through the woodland after crossing the small wooden bridge: you’ll start to see the fitness trail equipment and the woodland will open out. Turn left to start climbing the path that runs alongside the road. On reaching the Domaine de Cavaillé, continue left along the path at the edge of the forest until you reach the children’s playground, which you leave on your left, then walk past the sports hall and changing rooms on the left. You’ll come to a water point which can be used to fill a water bottle or give an animal a drink.

(3) Continue along the path, passing to the right of the football pitches. There are several tables on the estate (one in the car park, two near the pétanque courts on the other side of the sports hall) where you can take a break or have a picnic. At the end of Impasse des Faisans, turn right onto Rue de la Plaine, then onto Chemin de Cavaillé (D29f), which you cross and follow to the left: view of the castle.

(4) At the end of the street, turn left onto Rue Principale (D64b) to reach the village. A few metres after turning, you’ll find Larra’s chocolate shop. Pass the schools and you’ll arrive at the village square with its café and other shops, the town hall, the media library, the church and the wash houses.

(5) Continue down Rue Principale, pass the cemetery on your right and you’ll reach the roundabout.

(6) Turn left towards Brame Soif, head downhill to the second junction and take the Chemin de Brame Soif on the right.

(2) Cross back over the Rieu Tort and follow the path in the opposite direction to return to the car park (S/E).
