Park in the car park at Place de l’École, accessible from Rue Principale.
(S/E) Opposite the house with its strikingly decorated façade, start the walk by turning right onto Rue Principale. Take thesecond right onto Rue du Surling.
(1) Leave the village by continuing straight ahead along the path at the bend in the road. Further on, enter the small copse and head down the path that turns left; leave the copse and continue until you approach the forest.
(2) Almost at the edge of the forest, take the Chemin du Blumenstein, which turns sharply to the right, and walk through the forest until you reach the D40.
(3) Cross the road carefully, then turn right and follow it for a few dozen metres until you reach the small road that climbs steeply to the left. Climb this road, then at the junction, carry on straight ahead (Red Ring markings).
(4) Once you’ve entered the forest, take thefirst path on the right to exit the woods (marked with a Yellow Disc) and re-enter them shortly afterwards. At the next junction on the descent, turn right.
(5) Walk through the hamlet of Thannwiller, and turn left at the wayside shrine.
(6) Turn left and walk carefully alongside the D40 road to reach Wintzfelden. At the junction after the Arbre Vert restaurant, continue left onto Rue des Vosges.
(7) Behind the church is a small gate leading to the cemetery. Enter the cemetery, walk past the sarcophagus, then exit through the main gate and continue for a few dozen metres to reach the car park (S/E).
