Start at the football stadium – Former Schwartzenthann convent.
(S/E) Leaving the football stadium, cross the main road and head up it. Walk along the road (take care), then ignore a junction and continue until you reach the path on the left.
(1) Take this path and walk through the meadows where sheep often graze. Turn right, then left, and you will come to a crossroads.
(2) Turn left. Cross the stream and head up towards Schwartzenthann.
(3) At the junction, continue to the right, towards the ruins of the former Schwartzenthann convent. Cross the stream again and return to the junction you passed on the way out.
(2) At the foot of the former Schwartzenthann convent, continue straight ahead along the wide path (Chemin Osterrain) through the meadows towards the village of Wintzfelden. You’ll emerge between two houses; cross Rue des Vosges and take Rue Principale. Ignore a road on the right and follow Rue des Bucherons. Keep to the right at the end of the road, first turn right then left onto Rue Ritzenthal. At the end of the street, you will see a small chapel.
(4) Turn right onto Rue de la Chapelle, then immediately left towards the meadows (Chemin du Ritzenthal). Continue along the path, passing between the horse paddocks (you’ll see the stable on your left). You’ll arrive at the Ritzenthal beehives.
(5) Immediately after the beehives (building on your right), take the concrete path that climbs up to your right, towards the vineyard. You’ll walk alongside the rows of vines at the edge of the forest. Turn right. From this high point on the walk, enjoy the beautiful view over the Noble Valley. Continue to the next fork, marking the start of the return path.
(6) Turn right. Cross the road and take the path opposite. Keep to the right along the path until you reach the path you started on. Turn left to return to the car park (S/E).
