A short walk around the Crêt de Py Froid

A short walk around the rocks of Crêt du Py Froid. The path is a bit bumpy but remains very easy to follow.
Other longer and less steep walks are possible.

Description of the walk

Park near the Petiota Chievra farm in Fontrobert.
You cannot park next to the farm. It is private property__!
Please respect this – it’s getting tiresome with all these walkers who have no respect: there’s a chain between the two posts surrounding the entrance!__

(S/E) Take the path lined with meadows where horses graze. Further on, ignore the Chemin du Colombier which branches off to the right.

(1) First junction and start of the circular path. Turn right onto the small path that climbs between the rocks (climbing enthusiasts, feel free to stop here).

(2) You have now reached the highest point of the walk; settle down on the rocks and enjoy the view with a light picnic. Continue on your way by taking the path on the left (with the viewpoint behind you). At the fork, go left.

(3) Turn onto the path leading down to the left. After a bend, you’ll come to a crossroads.

(4) Take another sharp left-hand bend and follow the path to the first junction and the start of the circular route.

(1) Follow the path back the way you came to return to the car park at the Petiota Chievra farm in Fontrobert (A/D).

This route is a first for me.
It’s a short and slightly challenging version.

A lovely route offering stunning, unobstructed views stretching from the Lyon conurbation to the Alps, as well as some lovely stretches through the woods.
Be careful not to miss the path on the right at point 1. There is an initial path on the right with a chain, which you should not take. The correct path is about 100 m further on, on the right. It is very steep and climbs over the rocks up to the pass.
At point 3, at the signpost at the fork, take the path that descends to the left.
To get round the fact that it’s difficult to park properly at the farm, we parked at Grand-Croix and walked to the farm along a lovely path (which climbs a little) and already offers a very beautiful view.

You are not allowed to park near the farm. THIS IS PRIVATE PROPERTY!!
Please respect this – it’s getting tiresome with all these walkers who have no respect: there are plenty of ‘signs’ to indicate that this is private property. Yes, yes, a chain between the two posts surrounding the entrance is a ‘sign’!

A lovely stroll along tarmac paths when the tracks are soggy and muddy
Some lovely views of our villages.
Best done early in the morning for the best light for photos.

A lovely little walk to do with the children. However, there are two things to bear in mind: there are lots of mountain bikes on the route, and you can’t park by the farm. It’s private property. However, when we arrived, the very friendly farmer’s wife agreed to let us park well to the side (and we bought a few delicious little cheeses from her as the shop was open).
