Park at the place called "sous le Biolley". Car park with a picnic table and stone basin inside the first bend of the road towards Cormet de Roselend, D925.
(S/E) Take the mountain track that starts 25 metres to the right after the bend (do not take the track that descends in the bend, which is blocked by a cable). It starts on a slight incline above the lake below. The track turns left, but continue straight ahead on the path, which narrows to a trail that crosses two deep streams. A wooden footbridge allows you to cross them. Steps have been carved into the slate to make this crossing easier and safer. Cross the park wires, which may be found several times across the path, and put them back in place after passing through, as cows or heifers may escape. You may see chamois above the path at Les Rieux. The trail descends in four switchbacks to the lake shore and joins the "Crety".
(1) The dam is opposite you on the opposite bank. Continue along the path through the woods as close to the lake as possible. Once again, wooden footbridges cross the wetlands and streams. You will emerge from the woods into a meadow. After crossing the stream, the path becomes less distinct. Look out for the Molledraz mountain hut, which is clearly visible 50 metres above you. Climb up through the fields towards the hut to reach it.
(2) Follow the track that climbs four hairpin bends and then descends slightly towards the Treicol stream, which flows into the end of the lake. Admire the Pierra Menta rising in the distance opposite the track. Pass through "le Va" to reach the Treicol Bridge, halfway along the circuit.
(3) Cross the bridge over the Treicol stream and follow the balcony trail that branches off to the right towards the dam.
(4) At "Barme", pass close to the avalanche-protected alpine chalet behind a large rock. The track climbs for about 500m and passes under a picturesque cliff, then descends to join a bend in the tarmac road from the dam at "l'Entrus". This road connects the dam to the Col du Pré, which leads to Arêches.
(5) Take the tarmac road on the right and follow it down two hairpin bends, then, after about 50m, take the grassy path on the right that cuts across the fields to reach the Chalet de l'Outard, visible below. In the distance, you can see Mont Blanc in the background and, in front, the Rocher du Vent, which overlooks Lac de Roselend (a rock known for its via ferrata and tunnel dug in 1936, part of a project to cross the Alps via the major passes).
(6) Take the paved road to cross the dam (note the starting point of the hike opposite you on the other bank above the large water inlet).
Pass the Doron de Beaufort and continue straight ahead to join the D925 at the Col de Méraillet.
(8) Follow this road to the right, pass the Chalet de Roselend and continue with the lake on your right.
(9) Pass the Chapelle de Roselend, which overlooks the lake.
(10) Further on, cross the Nant des Lautarets stream over the bridge. Continue along the road for 500m, slightly uphill, to return to the car park (S/E). The picnic table and fresh water from the basin will be appreciated.
