The tour starts at the large car park on Place Frédéric Mistral, to the right of Cours Frizet, 100 metres after the Pernes-les-Fontaines Tourist Office.
There are blue and/or red arrows marking the route, but please ignore them
(S/E) From the car park, head towards the toilets and cross the footbridge on the left over the Nesque to reach the Quai de Verdun.
Turn left onto the quay and after 100 metres, cross the Nesque again on the left. At the end of the footbridge, turn right, go through the double barriers and arrive at Place de l'Église Notre-Dame. Turn left to go to the Fontaine du Jardin Dominique Corti.
Turn around, head towards the church, turn left to go around it and reach its entrance. At the end of the street, turn right to cross the Nesque via the Chapelle Notre-Dame des Grâces, built above the river, and go through the Porte Notre-Dame.
(1) Just after the gate, on the right, are the old covered market halls. Turn left to find the Lavoir and the Fontaine du Cormoran. Continue along the ramparts and take the first street on the right, which leads to Place Fléchier. On the left is the Maison Fléchier, which houses the Musée des Traditions Comtadines. Leave Rue des Audannes on your left and the streets on your right and turn left (sign for Boulangerie opposite).
Turn right onto Rue de la Condamine. On the right is the fountain on Place Fléchier. Turn immediately left and cross Place des Trois Faucons. At the end of the square, turn right onto Rue des Tourelles and you will find the fountain of the same name between numbers 38 and 44. Turn right and join Rue des Condamines. Walk up the street on the left and you will come to the fountain on Cours de la République to the left of the car park.
Continue to the right, cross the car park and arrive at no. 87 (physiotherapist's office). Leave Rue des Valentins on your left and turn right into a narrow street to reach Place du Planet de Guidan (not marked on the map) and its fountain on the right. Ignore Rue Fléchier on your right and turn left onto Rue de la Juiverie, which leads to the square of the same name. At No. 23 is the Hôtel de Chelus, which houses the Comtadin Cycle Museum.
At the end of the square, turn left onto Rue Raspail. Ignore Rue Cavalerie on the right and look for No. 181, the Hôtel de Barruel, which has retained its antique appearance! Continue uphill to No. 214, where you will find the Hôtel de Jocas and the fountain on Rue Raspail. Continue along Rue Raspail in the same direction until you reach Porte Saint-Gilles. Do not go through it, but turn right into Rue des Lices, which joins Avenue du Barriot. On the left is the Fontaine-Lavoir Saint-Gilles.
(2) At the end of the fountain, turn right onto Traverse Montargue. 20 metres further on, leave the street on your left and continue downhill on the right along high stone walls. Ignore Rue Cavalerie on your right and continue straight ahead. A few metres further on, at a no-entry sign, leave Rue Cavalerie (again) on your left and continue straight ahead into Rue Montant. The street will curve to the right and then to the left, leading to Place Reboul and its fountain.
Go down Rue Raspail on the left, passing Rue de Guidan on the right and Rue des Istres on the left, then turn left into Rue Thomas de Camaret. The street turns right and, immediately after, climb the stairs on the left to reach Place Brancas. Opposite is the fountain leaning against a façade. Just behind the fountain on the right is the entrance to the Clock Tower (see the Tourist Office for guided tours).
From the fountain, turn left and go up Rue de Brancas. At the next crossroads, leave Rue des Istres on your left and Place des Comtes de Toulouse and continue straight ahead. At the end of the street on the left is the fountain on Rue de Brancas. A little further on is the Hôtel de Brancas, which houses the town hall, and the fountain on Place de la Mairie to the left of the entrance.
Turn around and retrace your steps to return to Place des Comtes de Toulouse. Turn left and look for the fountain in the park on the left. As you leave the park, turn left onto Rue des Istres until you reach Place Louis Giraud and its church (Cultural Centre). Continue straight ahead, passing between the war memorial and the church. Go down the few steps and turn right onto Rue Esprit Blanchard. Behind the church, leaning against it, is the Fontaine des Pénitents Gris fountain. Continue straight downhill, leaving Rue Calusse on your left, and reach the junction with Rue Victor Hugo. Turn right and walk to the public garden and the Fontaine du Clos de Verdun fountain (garden closed in December 2015).
Return to the crossroads and continue straight ahead on Rue Victor Hugo. Opposite, at the foot of the Tour Ferrande, is the Fontaine du Gigot fountain. Pass Rue des Barbes on your right and continue to Rue de la République, opposite which is a former draper's shop that has been converted into the Musée du Costume Comtadin.
Turn left and discover the Hôtel de Vichet at No. 71 on your left, just after which is the Maison du Sacré-Coeur. Further on, at No. 125, there is a fountain on the left. Continue uphill to Place Ruy Dant and turn left again into Rue de la République.
At the corner of Rue Barreau, you will find the Fontaine de l'Hôpital on the left and the Hôtel de Crillon (Duc de Berton). Continue uphill to reach Place du Portail Neuf. Turn right along the car park to find the Fontaine du Portail Neuf fountain and then the small Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Rose chapel, hidden among the parked cars. Continue to the end of the square.
(3) Turn right onto Rue Émile Zola and after 30 metres, turn right and then left to see the Fontaine Saint-Pierre. Return to Rue Émile Zola and go down it to the right. At no. 258, admire the Chapelle des Pénitents Gris on your left. Walk down the entire street to the corner of Rue Gambetta (butcher's, baker's). Turn left to pass through the Porte Villeneuve. Immediately on your right is the Fontaine de Villeneuve and opposite, on the other side of the avenue, the Chapelle Notre-Dame des Abcès.
Turn right onto Avenue Jean Jaurès and 100 metres further on, turn right onto Quai de Verdun. Walk on the left side of the quay, along the Nesque, to see the last fountain on the left against the low wall. Continue a few metres and turn left to cross the footbridge that leads to the car park (S/E).
