‘Discovering Vaugneray’ presents ‘La Boucle du Val Noir’, a 29 km circular route that circles the outer perimeter of the commune of Vaugneray, though it can be shortened to suit your fitness level, preferences or the time you have available. You’ll pass through colourful, wooded and undulating countryside; at times wild, at times romantic. You’ll walk along a section of the Roman road, skirt the hidden Val de l’Yzeron aqueduct (of which only a few remains are left), and discover sites inhabited since prehistoric times, more recent settlements and picturesque hamlets. To make your walk even more enjoyable, information boards on various topics are dotted along the route, providing details on agriculture, the hamlets, the people, the flora, the crosses, fishing and hunting.
