The Dumbé’Art Street Art Trail starting from the Dumbéa Mall

Park in the Dumbéa Mall car park, accessible from the roundabout on Boulevard du Rail Calédonien.

(S/E) Head back towards the main entrance and walk along the boulevard to the right, heading west. Turn right onto Avenue des Télégraphes and continue until you reach the first artwork.

(1) This is located behind some gates, but they are usually open, so access is normally not a problem. I won’t go into detail each time; you’ll come across nearly 40 of them along the route. All information about the artworks can be found on the city’s website.

(1) Turn round, walk past the shopping centre again, and at the roundabout take the Échangeur des Érudits opposite to get to the other side of the dual carriageway. At the next roundabout, follow Avenue Antoine Becquerel for about 300 metres. There are around ten artworks in succession on the walls along this avenue. You’ll arrive at the entrance to a small park.

(2) Here you’ll find old works faded by time, and a more recent one, *La Roussette*, on the shed in the middle. Walk round the park and return to the avenue.

(2) Continue along it towards the east. Pass three roundabouts. In total, there are about fifteen artworks spread along the entire length of the avenue. After the last roundabout, at the top of a hill, the avenue splits into two.

(3) Turn left onto Avenue de la Vallée; there are four or five artworks along this section. Follow this avenue, which forms a semicircle, until you reach the junction with Promenade de Koutio; it’s easy to spot as it’s the street where the bus runs.

(4) Turn left to follow the promenade, then left again at the roundabout, opposite the media library. Then turn right, left, right, right to arrive in front of the cinema.

(5) Continue along the Promenade de Koutio. There are around ten artworks in this area. At the end, you’ll reach Avenue Victor Hugo, which continues on from Avenue de la Vallée at the junction you passed on the way there.

(4) Turn left and follow Avenue Victor Hugo until you reach the start of a wide right-hand bend, near a bus stop.

(6) Head towards the park on your left. Stroll through the park; the artworks are located near the swimming pool buildings to the north. There are several artworks around the swimming pool.

(7) Walk northwards alongside the swimming pool, then head towards Avenue Antoine Becquerel near the junction you passed on the way there.

(3) Turn left, heading in the opposite direction to your outward journey, until you reach Avenue du Télégraphe.

(1) Return to Dumbéa Mall, taking the opportunity to browse the shops before heading back to the car park (S/E).

Less than 20 minutes’ drive from Nouméa.

There is no shade along the route, so make sure you protect yourself from the sun.

Please watch out for cars and stay on the pavements and at pedestrian crossings.
