Through the woodland around the Ruisseau de Saint-Pierre

A walk that starts in a woodland that feels more like a park. It has a few tarmac sections and is relatively shaded. It’s a lovely summer stroll along very easy-to-walk paths.

Description of the walk

Park at the side of Route de Mimet. There are designated parking spaces.

(S/E) You will see a beautiful wooden gate and, to its left, the DFCI track named GA101 with its forest gate. Continue along this track (GRP®) and pass tank 396.

(1) You will cross another track; keep to the right, still following the GA101 markings. Pass water tank 269.

(2) At the junction with a wide track, stay on the widest track furthest to the right, GRP®. You’ll come to a forest gate and turn left onto a tarmac road marked in yellow and red with the words: “France randonnée”. Cross a small bridge and continue.

(3) At the Stop sign on the right, take this tarmac road which climbs almost in the opposite direction. It is called Chemin du Vallon Saint-Pierre, still marked in yellow and red. Pass the stables.

(4) Leave the tarmac road on the right and take the DFCI HC200 track, marked with several colours. Cross a small bridge, then 20 metres further on, you’ll come to a path on the left that goes uphill. Take this path and pass cistern 571. You’ll come to a very wide path: continue straight ahead and, a few metres further on, turn left. Look out for the water tank marked 19.6.22. Then look for a junction leading to a private property directly opposite. Turn left to avoid it. The path descends in a hairpin bend and crosses several branches: stay on the main path, heading almost straight ahead.

(5) At the fork, head straight down a path. It begins to narrow slightly and reaches a junction: turn right, cross a small stream and arrive at an old forest gate with a green cable. Continue along the path slightly to its right on the GRP® Sentier Provence. Stay on this main path and cross a tarmac road.

(6) Take this road, continuing along the path whilst following the “Randonnée de France” signposts. Continue a little further to see a yellow signpost indicating a change of direction.

(7) Leave the tarmac road when the signpost indicates. Then follow the path which turns left to cross a small track that you must follow to the right. Then, at the next change of direction indicated by the yellow signpost, do not follow this one but follow the yellow and red signposts. Cross a slightly wider track, continuing in the same direction: that is, straight ahead, slightly to the right.

(8) At the junction, turn left onto a small path which is still clearly marked with yellow and red. Pass several wild mulberry trees and keep going almost straight on until you reach the tarmac road. Go round the children’s playground on the right, keeping close to the building. There are some steps you need to take to reach the Route de Gardanne. Follow it to the right for a short while.

(9) As soon as you see a path running parallel to the road on the right, walk down a few metres to join the path and continue to the left, parallel to Route de Gardanne, until you reach Chemin de Courcelles. Take this to the left until you come face to face with a gate. On the right, a path joins the road. Take this path and you will see the car park a few metres ahead (S/E).
