Description of the walk

Departure from Place du Foirail in Puylaurens.

(S/E) Cross Avenue de Toulouse and walk up Rue de la Porte Neuve towards the church.

(1) Pass in front of the church and continue straight on Rue du Marché. At the end, go down the street on the right. Then take thefirst street on the left and walk along the old city ramparts.

(2) At the bend, take the path furthest to the right and follow it down to the gravel path. Turn left to join the D 92 road.

(3) Turn left and, immediately at thefirst road on the right towards Les Quatre Carrières, take the grassy path, which is slightly hidden, on the right. Follow it to the small lake. Pass on the left and take the lower path. Turn left until you reach the tarmac road.

(4) Follow the road to the left. Pass the hamlet of Alric and continue straight on until you reach the junction with the main road. (Please note: do not follow thePR® markings after Alric).

(5) At the main road, turn right. Pass the Ruisseau d'Alric stream and continue to thefirst path on the left (cross) towards Rivalis Bas. Walk along the buildings on the right and, at the end of thefirst bend, turn onto the path on the right and follow it straight ahead between the woods and copses until you reach the road.

(6) At the road, continue straight ahead and, at thefirst bend, take the path, still straight ahead, and climb up to join the road, then continue climbing straight ahead.

(7) Almost at the top of the hill, turn left and cross the hamlet of Les Monganes. At the exit, the road turns into a stony path. Follow it to the hamlet of La Ricaudié. Walk along the hamlet on the right and continue along the path, turning left to reach En Blanc.

(8) At En Blanc, turn left onto the path, pass En Cervole and rejoin the road at En Guibaud.

(9) Cross the locality by following the road to the right, then, at the exit, in the bend, take the path straight ahead.

(10) At the end, continue to the left and follow the path for about 1.5 km, always straight ahead, until you reach a tarmac road. Follow this road to the left and continue straight ahead until you reach an intersection near the Church of Saint-Étienne.

(11) Take the road on the left. After 50 m, turn right onto the path to Bellevue.

(12) In Bellevue, admire the dovecote. Continue to the right and go downhill. Cross the road and go back up towards Les Ouliés.

(13) At the entrance to the hamlet, turn left onto the path that runs alongside the house and follow it for a long way. Cross the tarmac road and continue along the path opposite to climb up to Avenue de Vielmur.

(14) Follow the avenue to the right. Go up to the left between two houses, then take a bridge on the left.

(15) Continue straight ahead along Rue Foulimou, which crosses the village. At the end, continue for a few dozen metres along Rue de la Mairie and turn right at the corner of the market square. Return to Avenue de Toulouse and first turn left then right to reach Place du Foirail (S/E).

A magnificent route, very well marked, easy to follow and interesting, almost entirely off-road, allowing you to discover the ramparts of Puylaurens and the surrounding countryside. The views are superb. No problems with fords, as there are bridges at every stream crossing. The directions are clear, although we always prefer to check with GPS. Signposts appear from time to time, but the detailed information on the sheet tells you whether or not to follow them. Some paths are a little overgrown with grass, but you can get through without any problems. We had already done several routes around Puylaurens, but we didn't retrace our old steps. A real treat. Thanks to the author of the hike.
One small detail: park along the street beyond Place du Foirail or in the other car park at the foot of the ramparts, as the centre is a blue zone (disc).

A very pleasant hike with beautiful views of the Puylaurens countryside. No particular difficulties, except for a small climb at the end of the hike.
A few sections of tarmac, but you'll soon forget them.
Thank you for giving us all these opportunities for outings.

A magnificent route, it was a real treat. I highly recommend it.
With the morning fog and temperatures struggling to reach 0°C, I couldn't set off until 11:30 a.m., so to be on the safe side, I settled for the northern circular: starting at St-Etienne church, and at Bellevue, taking the small left/right path (beautiful view) to reach Rivalis-Bas and the original route. This brings the distance down to 9 km.
In Les Monganes, don't hesitate to take the dead-end road on the left at the containers, which leads to the hill seen on the way up (elevation 243). There is a path that leads there (on the right, sloping down at the last buildings). The view is splendid, ideal for a picnic, which is what I did!
Thank you for this route, which is almost exclusively on paths.

Thank you, beautiful views of the surrounding hills and countryside and visit to Puylaurens on the way back.
The description is insufficient after point 3 for descending across the field towards the small lake, as the trail is almost invisible and the markings are ineffective for progressing. At point 6, I had difficulty finding the start of the path that winds through the copse, as the very tall spring vegetation completely obstructed the start.

A beautiful, varied hike, with a few unavoidable but gentle stretches on tarmac, wide paths through fields, pretty trails through the woods, rolling countryside and beautiful views... A lovely combination of the various routes in the area, allowing for a longer outing. The paths and trails seem to be well maintained, which is necessary given the likely low number of visitors.
As stated in the description, be sure to follow the trail, which is perfectly accurate, as the markings are either numerous or non-existent.
Thank you for this suggestion.

Hello Yves,
Thank you for this hike. We did it when the ground was muddy, which is normal in winter. The landscape is very hilly and there is a pleasant
trail through the woods.
My Garmin 64 S GPS readings in reverse mode for greater accuracy = 15 km 700 Elevation gain + 427 m.
Kind regards
Marcel id Viso (Little dog)

Beautiful 360° panoramic views over much of the route, reminiscent of Auvergne. A lovely hike to do in the off-season, as there is no shade in summer. Quite a physically demanding hike, like the flat hikes, with three or four fairly steep sections.
Very passable despite the rainy season. We met a group of nine hikers and a couple.
