Description of the walk

On the E10 road, 43 km from Leknes, pass the Silver Seed factory in Mølnarodden and about 50 m after the access road to this factory (on the left), take the unpaved road on the right at the concrete bus shelter.
Continue to a beautiful yellow house (on the left) and park just before it on the right. There are other parking spaces further on, but they are marked as no parking!

(S/E) Head right (south) on the gravel track and follow a small inlet to the bridge on the left. Cross the bridge and, if the barrier is closed, pass on either side of the handrail. Pass by a dilapidated building containing old electricity generation equipment. From here, the path becomes steeper and passes between two steep walls. Arrive at the foot of the gravity dam (pile of rock blocks) and at the end of Lake Litl (Litlvatn) on the right.

(1) Take one of the two clearly visible paths on the right and climb up to the promontory, where you will get your first view of Lake Solbjørn to the west.

(2) Look north to see two grey granite rock domes separated by a small pass: a very large one on the left with a more jagged western side and a much smaller one on the right. It is the latter that you will need to reach. From there, the terrain is completely open and there are only fragments of trail here and there. Walk as far as you can, avoiding the spongy, overly wet areas, and reach the lake's outlet.

(3) Cross it via the small concrete wall, pass by a small lake and continue towards the objective, namely the small granite dome to the right of the small pass. Arrive at the dome (panoramic view of the lake and fjord and the northern part of the Lofoten coast).

(4) Return to the lake outlet.

(3) Continue the descent via the same route as on the way up and return to the car park (S/E).

Notes

As is the case almost everywhere in the Lofoten (and Vesteralen) Islands, hiking is possible but there are no signposted or marked trails, and when there are, they are minimal! The trails, when they exist, are only maintained by the repeated passage of hikers. This is a far cry from the French system. Fortunately, the vegetation is usually low enough to walk without difficulty.

In any case, be sure to wear high, waterproof shoes (or flip-flops!) as the ground is often covered with sphagnum moss and therefore saturated with water.
