Description of the walk

Park near ‘La Bergerie’.

(S/E) Take the grassy path beneath the cross. Walk uphill through fields and woodland (taking the time to look back frequently to admire the scenery behind you) until you reach a tarmac road.

(1) Turn left towards the Chapel of Notre-Dame du Bon Secours. Turn back and continue along the tarmac road, via Blache Ronde, to the Bourbousson farm.

(2) Below the farm, continue along the tarmac road to the left (Chemin de Juillet). Walk alongside a field and then a garden. At the first bend, leave the road and follow the grassy path to the right, which descends alongside a stream to another garden. Pass the first path on the left and head slightly uphill.

(3) Leave the track and take a path which climbs to the right, onto the old Chemin des Remparts, and which goes round the castle, towards the old village of Piégros.
After the first house, take the path on the left which leads back down towards the tarmac road. Follow this road back up to the starting point (S/E).

A very pleasant, shaded walk with lovely views.
It’s worth noting that the starting point, ‘La Bergerie’, is just past Piégros La Castre Castle.
The signposting is sometimes a bit ‘unclear’, but it’s easy to find your way again.

A really lovely walk, but be careful in some places – the grass is tall for about a hundred metres. It might put you off, but you should still plough straight through it. (I did this walk in May 2024; things may have changed since then)
One of the paths leading to the castle is also a bit hard to spot, so make sure you keep to the right to see it.
All in all, it’s still a really lovely walk! You can even extend it if you’ve got time.
