Description of the walk

Car park in front of the municipal swimming pool, at the corner of Place des Sports and Rue de la Piscine.

(S/E) From the car park in front of the swimming pool, go to the small roundabout and turn left onto Rue de la Piscine (westbound), then continue almost opposite onto Rue du Vignoble.

(1) Further on, do not turn left onto Rue du Vignoble, which is a dead end (this will be the way back), but stay on the main road (which becomes Rue Louis Pasteur). Then look for the blue cross signpost and follow it towards Schauenberg. Continue to a small roundabout.

(2) Turn left onto Chemin du Waldweg, following the red cross signs (follow these to Schauenberg). Follow this road uphill. Pass a water collection reservoir. Immediately after, turn right.

(3) Further on, at a crossroads under a grove of trees, turn left.

(4) At a wayside cross, take a look at the orientation table opposite. Continue for a few metres, then first turn right then left. Further on, enter the forest.

(5) See the Oelberg Chapel. Continue straight ahead. You will come to a crossroads with a car park (Col du Neuland).

(6) Turn right, then after a few metres leave the road and follow a path leading off to the left, then at a three-way junction continue straight ahead. Then enter the forest and follow a forest path almost in a straight line for a long time.

(7) Then follow the Way of the Cross northwards. You will arrive at the beautiful Notre-Dame de Schauenberg Chapel.

(9) Then pass under a porch to reach the terrace and enjoy a beautiful view of the Alsace plain.

(10) Leave the site and turn left onto a path marked with red diamond signs towards the Table des Druides. The path immediately turns left in a hairpin bend.

(11) Take the path on the right for a round trip to the Table des Druides, a pile of sandstone blocks forming a dolmen. Retrace your steps.

(11) Take the path marked with red diamonds on the right towards Notre-Dame de Hubel and walk along the heights for a long time.

(12) See the Désiré Renaud viewpoint.

(13) At an intersection, keep right, still heading towards Notre-Dame du Hubel.

(14) Further on, at another intersection, turn left downhill to reach Notre-Dame du Hubel (a small oratory in a tree). Then turn left, following the red triangle markings towards Rouffach.
Leave the forest and return to the vineyards, opposite Strangenberg hill. Return to Col du Neuland.

(6) Continue straight ahead (car park on your right) following the red triangle markings.

(15) Further on, at a bend, leave the road and turn left off the marked trail, opposite an antenna. Pass in front of the antenna (on your left), then after a few metres turn left onto a faint path running alongside a vineyard on your right. At the end of the vineyard, continue straight ahead along a small path lined with hedges.

(16) At the end of this path, turn right onto a path running alongside a low stone wall on your right, with a beautiful unobstructed view of Rouffach. Further down, cross a vineyard path and continue straight ahead along a grassy path leading downhill.
Continue along a concrete path (signposted "sentier découverte" with a red circle), then turn right and then left (in front of a green-painted concrete wall), facing the church visible in the distance. Return to Rouffach via Rue du Vignoble.

(1) Take the same route back as on the way there, turning right until you reach the car park (S/E).
