Navarrenx - Uhart-Mixe

Forty-fourth stage of the Camino de Santiago. During this stage, you leave Béarn for the Basque Country. A very long stage, mostly along country roads and paths through woodland. As you do not pass through any large villages, it is best to stock up on provisions at the start.

Worth a visit

The Navarrenx Bridge (S): To facilitate crossing the river, which until then had been done by fording, the Viscount of Béarn, Gaston VI, granted the charter known as the ‘Pont de Navarrenx’ in 1188. This charter mandated the construction of a wooden footbridge, which was replaced a century later by a stone bridge. The bridge, rebuilt in 1583, was repaired several times before its width was increased to 5.5 metres in 1988.

The Church of Saint-Grat in Lichos (24), which houses a reliquary bust of Saint Grat, the first bishop of Oloron and a native of Lichos. The church features a gallery or gallery.

It’s certainly not an easy route, but it’s definitely doable. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of mud given the weather.
