Description of the walk

To the hamlet of Sainte Colombe which is 4 km from Bédoin on the D974 (the road up to the summit of Mont Ventoux by Chalet Reynard).
Car park in this hamlet along the road in front of the restaurant.

(S) Leave the car park and cross the road towards the restaurant and then go down to the left for 50 metres, heading right at the next street (Chemin des Fébriers and Chemin du Ventoux) right behind the restaurant. Follow the yellow markings and head towards the cemetery.

(1) After making your way around, the path turns right uphill, pas by all paths to the right and left until the “Les Constants” crossing.

(2) Turn left towards "La Combe Ansis" on the GR91. Some 200 m further on, towards "La Combe Ansis", turn right in the direction of "Guibert" “Le Mont Ventoux" (yellow markings). Climb up into the valley for 2.5 km as far as a sign for "Guibert".

(3) Continue climbing straight ahead in the direction of "Combe Fiole" “Le Mont Ventoux".
The trail will cut across a forest road and will continue to go straight. The path will be steeper and will lead to a forest road.

(4) Turn left, as indicated by the signs. 50 m away, a bend marks the start of the "Combe Fiole Nord" “Le Mont Ventoux" (keep a little to the left on the road to find the sign). Head right on the road that climbs towards "Petit Pierre" “Le Mont Ventoux". There just remains 5.5 km until the summit!!!
The trail will pass next to ruined buildings then rises again and again to lead a track at the "Petit Pierre".

(5) Continue left towards the "Jas des Pélerins" “Le Mont Ventoux" for 300 m as far as the sign that reads "Jas des Pélerins".

(6) Continue right towards “La Chapelle Sainte Victoire" on the trail that heads right and goes up to the Jas. Take care when following the yellow trail to the left of the Jas because other markings pass by the Jas on the right.
The trail will then lead towards the summit and quickly arrives at the summit’s scree. Follow the main track ignoring all other trails.
Once in the chapel, follow the signs for the summit.

(7) Take the time for a short tour of Mont Ventoux to enjoy the magnificent 360° views.

The return journey will follow the same trail as the climb up Jas des Pélerins.

(6) Once past the Jas, head down to the forest road and head to the left for 50 m to find two cairns that lead downhill to the right onto the slope. This path leads to the Fiole valley.
Once in the valley, a cairn leads down to the right. It will, once again, follow the path taken on the ascent, leading to the bottom of the valley, on a paved forest road. Head left for 50 m.

(4) A sign indicates the direction "Jas de la Couanche". Take this path up to the left, marked in red and white (GR91B).

(8) Once you have arrived at the Jas, at the sign, leave the GR and take the yellow path down to the right in the direction of "Saint Estève" “Les Cèdres".
When the path has cut the road twice, this will be the beginning of the Cédraie Bédoin. Continue downhill on the main road, the one marked in yellow, but some sections of wood have markings that are further apart.

(9) At the sign for “Les Cèdres" continue the descent straight ahead in the direction of "Saint Estève" “Les Pins de Constant". Ignore all the other trails and keep to the markings.

(10) Once at a forest road, at the sign for “Les Pins de Constant", turn right on the GR route towards “Les Constants".

(2) At the “Les Constants” crossing, leave the GR to go left downhill following the yellow markings towards Sainte Colombe.

(1) Turn left, pass the cemetery and find the car park from the start.

Not many people this time of year, just a few cyclists at the top.
Although I was fairly well trained, I was a bit sluggish.
I thought I'd do the climb in 2.5 hours, but it took me 3 hours, and I was really exhausted after 1.5 hours of fast climbing, during which time I was overtaken by a rider.
The descent took 2.5 hours, with plenty of breaks.
Above no. 6 the track was barely visible because of the leaves covering all the undergrowth.
My GPS (Coros) indicated 22.31 km for a difference in altitude of 1,612 m.

Extended the route from the Bélézy site.
Apart from the length (which I increased again by choice), there were no difficulties on the path, which was easy to climb, making a total of 30 km and 1,600 m.
On the other hand, there were a lot of people at the top, and after a quick snack there was only one desire: to get back down!!.. to get away from the many cars, motorbikes and bikes on this Whitsun Sunday.
But it was a great climb: A RE-DO +++ this time finishing on the direct route to the Ventoux.

Hello,
I left Ste Colombe at 7.45am with a friend. Summit at 10:45. Nice, steady climb on a "comfortable" path in the shade to the Clapier de l'Ermite. Break of an hour at the summit with a return journey to the Col des Tempêtes.
Descend to Jas des Landerots along a path and then the PR more or less to the SW. A very pleasant spot for a picnic.
From here we descended on the PR which ends in the Combe de Curnier. From Les Colombets we returned to Ste Colombe on the GR. Arrival at 3pm. Total 23km, 1600mD+, 7h15l. The descent from the summit is almost always over rocks. I therefore recommend descending via the Combe de Fiole, then the Jas de La Couanche to the Cèdres massif. From there join Guibert and the Combe d'Ansis. Marlon40.

A pretty hike that takes us through the forest, cool in the morning, then on to these lunar, stony landscapes to reach the summit and its chapel. It's very windy up there, so bring a windbreaker. It's hot, so take something to drink.
The climb will take you up 1300m over 10km, which is quite a challenge.

A very pretty view from the top and of the world too, which contrasts with the rest of the hike.

Very nice hike: Sunday 8 August 2021 at 07:12 for 22.250 km, 9h15 walk including stops, 1520m elevation gain. Strong wind at the summit and very hot on the way back.
- We had a little trouble finding our way up to Combe Fiole.
- Once at the summit, it was essential to descend to the Col des Tempêtes to admire the panoramic view of the Regional Nature Park and return to the summit by the same route.
- On the way back to Combe Fiole, we couldn't find the GRP trail to Jas de la Couanche. We followed the track as far as the cistern. We descended as far as point 733 and went straight to point 520 and Ste Colombe.
A real treat.

Hike/trail done in 3h30! A gradual and magnificent climb in these autumn colours. No particular difficulty apart from the distance. We did a round trip, not a loop. We met very few hikers and a few mountain bikers. Be sure to bring a jacket on arrival.

A very beautiful walk in winter too.
Last 200 metres on a frozen slope,
barely doable with standard shoes,
easier with crampons/snowshoes.

Wednesday 10 June with a friend. 8am/14pm AR.
Fine weather. Classic ascent via Combe de l' Ansis, then Combe de Fiole: steady ascent, on fairly good terrain and mostly in the shade. Jas des Pélerins. You reach the open part and summit. Descent, same start, then at 1727m we took the OSW path, then the S path to 1464m: a very stony section that requires a little care. At the crossroads, cross the track and take the path heading SW as far as 1372m. Take the track a little and then the GR 91B to the Jas des Landerots. A nice spot for a picnic break. The final descent is along the SSW ridge path to Les Fébriers and Ste Colombe. A beautiful loop. If you're afraid of rocks (almost all the way down), I recommend the return leg along the same "combe d'Ansis et combe de Fiole" path. Marlon40.

A fantastic hike. I did it on 23 December with a friend, leaving Ste Colombe at midnight, putting on crampons from the Jas des Pèlerins (where the snow began 300m below) and arriving at the summit at 5am, with a snowstorm, -7°C and gusts of wind at 140km/h, an unforgettable atmosphere! We didn't hang around at the summit, descending by the same route, lighting the fire in the Jas des Pèlerins chimney and having a restorative snack. Back to square one at 9.15am.
I'd advise you to do this hike at the same time in June and watch the magnificent sunrise at the summit.

A beautiful walk with a wide variety of landscapes. A stopover at the Jas des Pélerins is much appreciated before finishing the ascent in the Mont Ventoux scree (done at night). The descent is very demanding (your legs will remember it for a few days...) but exceptional!
The signs are very good and the hike, which is classed as 'difficult', lived up to its promise.
