Start from the Parking des Basses Séguines, Route du Mont Thou in Saint-Romain-au-Mont-d'Or.
(S/E) Head downhill towards the village centre.
(1) In front of the church, take the cobbled street, Rue de la Charrière. At the end of this street, near the stadium, turn left uphill onto Chemin du Charroi, and continue straight on until you reach the fountain and then the cliff-top path.
(2) At the junction, continue straight up to the Parking des Pins. Once at the car park, cross the road to join the path opposite and walk for about a hundred metres.
(3) Carry on straight ahead at the four-way junction and follow this small path uphill, ignoring the offshoots on either side, until you reach the meadow at the foot of Mont Thou. Continue uphill through the meadows to the Mont Thou speed camera.
(4) Head back down, skirting the woods on the left, then continue along the path that follows the ridge through the undergrowth until you reach a crossroads. Turn right at a sharp angle and continue straight on until you reach the crossroads you passed earlier.
(3) Carry on straight ahead.
(5) Cross the road carefully and follow the path straight ahead. This turns left, follows the edge of the woods along a stony path and joins a road.
(6) Turn right and, at the hamlet of Mont Thou, just after the fountain with its two basins, turn left. Walk a few metres then turn left onto Chemin de Salagon. A downhill street with a drainage channel on the right-hand side. At the bottom, at the crossroads, turn right and look for the start of a path on the right in the left-hand bend of the road.
(7) Follow this path which, after about a hundred metres, runs alongside the road. Once you reach the road at the hairpin bend to the left, take the path leading off to the right. You’ll come to a double drystone shelter; go past it and turn left. Continue straight on until you reach the road.
(8) Go down to the right and, at the next junction, turn left onto Chemin des Vondières, then immediately right, just after thefirst street, onto the path that begins with a flight of steps. Go down between the houses and reach a side street opposite No. 15.
Turn left and head for the Parking des Basses Séguines (S/E).
