The departure point is at Porte de France (parking along Quai de France).
(S/E) Head north and climb towards the Bastille, following the signs. At intersections, take the path on the right.
(1) Climb a series of stairs.
(2) Directly below the upper cable car station, go straight ahead, pass under the line and make a sharp left turn to reach the top.
(3) Go through the large gate to reach the Bastille plateau.
(4) Near a car park, turn left and walk alongside a restaurant. After 500 metres, at a fork, turn left towards Col de Vence.
(5) At a hairpin bend to the left, leave the path and continue straight ahead (north-east). The path becomes narrow in places and even tends to descend.
(6) At the crossroads, turn left towards Mont Jala and climb the hairpin bends. Then continue climbing in a north-northeast direction.
(7) At the crossroads, go straight ahead (west). Reach the ridge and follow it to the right (north-northeast) to reach Mont Rachais.
(8) Descend on the other side into the forest, heading north-northeast. The trail is well marked.
(9) At the intersection, take the path (be careful not to miss this turn). Continue downhill through the forest and ignore the paths on the left. Go around a mountain bike trail.
(10) At the crossroads, turn sharply left towards Lévetière. At the next fork, go down to the right. You will come out onto a road; follow it to the left for about 300 metres.
(11) At a hairpin bend to the right, leave the road and continue straight ahead on a path. At a fork, turn right. The path continues through the forest. At a T-junction, turn right.
(12) At an intersection, turn left. Keep heading south-southwest and ignore a steep path on the left.
(13) At the junction, follow the path to the left (south). After passing some superb balconies with views of the Presqu'ïle, you will arrive at the foot of Mont Jalla.
(14) Continue straight ahead and you will soon reach the summit of Mont Jalla. Retrace your steps.
(14) Turn right and descend the winding path to the junction you took on the way up.
(5) Turn right and head back to the top station of the Bastille cable car via the same route you took on the way up.
(2) Then turn left and pass under the cable car line again. Follow a few hairpin bends until you are directly below the line.
(15) Turn left (do not pass under the line). Descend via several switchbacks.
(16) Turn left and continue downhill in hairpin bends until you reach Porte Saint Laurent.
(17) Turn right and take Rue Saint-Laurent. At the end, join Quai Perrière and follow it to the right. Continue along Quai de France to return to the starting point (S/E).
