Mirador del Rio from Orzola

Departure from the port of Orzola, in the north of the island.

(S/E) Follow the main road south.

(1) Turn right onto a street that crosses the gardens.

(2) Turn right onto a track and follow it to the left. Continue along a faint path.

(3) Turn right onto a well-marked path that climbs up to the ridge. Continue to the summit; the trail is obvious.

(4) Descend on the other side, heading due west. Follow the faint paths carefully; do not take any shortcuts.

(5) At the crossroads, there are two options, which are obviously compatible with each other:
- Turn right, pass an old battery and reach the heights of Punta Fariones (6). Be careful of the cliffs.
- Turn left and head to Mirador del Rio (7).
In both cases, retrace your steps back to the crossroads.

(5) Follow the path you took on the way there in the opposite direction until you reach the intersection with the gardens.

(2) Continue straight ahead. At the T-junction, turn right. Return to the main road and follow it to the left until you reach the port (S/E).

The route offers magnificent views of the island of La Graciosa from the ridge and/or from the Mirador del Rio viewpoint designed by Manrique (€8.50). The entrance fee does not add anything to the view, but it does allow you to visit the beautiful building designed by Manrique (a little expensive, though).
