Plenty of parking spaces on Place Bruel around Saint-Pierre Church.
(S/E) Place Bruel, on the side of the church, walk past the war memorial and the commemorative stele before turning right onto Rue du Capitaine Charlet.
(1) Turn left into Rue des Capucins, then left again before the bridge onto Boulevard de la Liberté. Follow the Bourre river to the Pont des Prêtres at the end of Boulevard Victor Hugo.
(2) Turn right onto the Pont des Prêtres, then left onto Rue Faidherbe. Cross the bridge over the Canal d’Hazebrouck and take the towpath on the left. Follow the canal to the Pont de Pierre.
(3) Cross the bridge and turn right onto the path running alongside the Lys. Cross the footbridge, then head right to continue along the Lys.
(4) When you reach Square Victor Serlooten, go round the roundabout on the left and continue along the Lys. At the end of the path, turn left then right and enter the Parc des Près de la Ville.
Walk around the park following the path on the right. You might even be tempted to try the excellent fitness trail.
(5) Leave the park by following the BMX route, then continue to the bridge via Quai des Anglais. Turn right, pass Rue des Capucins on your right and take the next right onto Avenue Clemenceau to return to Saint-Pierre Church (S/E).
