Leysin - Les Mosses

The starting point for this stage is the car park after the Hôtel le Grand Chalet at the end of Chemin de la Source.
By public transport, arrive at Leysin Feydey railway station, a 5-minute walk away.

Preliminary remark: to facilitate the description, the following notation is used:
P46: multi-directional yellow (or red and white) sign with green sticker No. 46.

(S) Take the path at the end of the car park and you will soon come to a wider path with the first P46 sign.

(1) Follow the sign until you cross the small road to Plan-Praz (P46).

(2) Continue until you reach another junction with another P46 sign.

(3) As indicated by the sign, take the road that curves around to join the Route du Fer.

(4) Take the Route du Fer until you reach a fork at an elevation of 1513 metres (P46).

(5) Take the path on the left and continue until you reach a junction after the Brion chairlift station.

(6) As indicated by P46, turn right, pass under the "Le Fer" chairlift and find another P46 at a fork. Stay on the P46 path and return to the "Les Fers" restaurant chalet.

(7) Turn left and pass the chairlift arrival point to find another P46 sign.

(8) Head north, then north-west, walking at the foot of Moëllé. Climb up to a crossroads with a P46 sign.

(9) Take a break at this small pass at the foot of the Tour de Famelon (altitude 1902 m), which offers a magnificent view of the tower and the Tour de Mayen. Follow the direction indicated by two successive P46 markers. Walk along the rocky ridge that forms the base of the Tour de Famelon. Reach a crossroads and you will see a new P46 marker.

(10) Turn right and begin a fairly steep descent. Continue along the scree before reaching the track that leads to the Col de la Pierre du Moëllé. Return to the pass of the same name, marked with a P46 sign.

(11) Heading south, continue along the Route de la Pierre du Moëllé until you reach a hairpin bend (elevation 1560) where you will find another P46 sign.

(12) Leave the road and follow the forest track at the foot of Mont d'Or.

(13) As suggested by P46, take the path on the left called Chemin de Vent Debout. About 400 m further on, start a fairly steep climb and you will come to a chalet (elevation 1637). Turn right, as suggested by P46. Continue until you reach another P46 at a crossroads.

(14) Stay on Chemin de Vent Debout, then turn right onto Chemin de Sonnaz and follow the road until you reach a road (P46).

(15) Turn right towards the Sonnaz farm. Take the Chemin des Terreaux until you reach a fork with a P46 sign.

(16) Head towards Col des Mosses, continuing along Chemin des Terreaux until you reach Route des Mosses. On the road, heading north, you will quickly reach Relais Alpin, your accommodation for the day (E).

? Alpine pastures: you will cross a few alpine pastures. Stay on the paths that pass through private property. Remember to close gates behind you.
