Mountain bike trail no. 23
(S/E) From the village square in Marcq, head towards the town hall and pass to the right of the town hall onto Rue d'Orthez. At the crossroads at the edge of the village, continue straight ahead towards Cornay on the D42.
(1) When you reach Cornay, turn left at the crossroads onto the D4. Pass through the hamlet of La Forge, then over the bridge over the River Aire, and you will reach Fléville.
(2) Near the square, turn left onto the D948, then quickly right onto Rue Cavis. At the next three-way junction, keep left onto Rue du Fontenas and, at the end of this road, turn left onto Rue de la Grotte. Cross a small bridge and you will reach a three-way junction with a grassy island in the middle.
(3) Turn right, go under the bridge of the old railway line and continue straight ahead until you find a forest track on the right.
(4) Take this track, go through the barrier and enter the Ariethal National Forest. Pass the Big Red One memorial plantation, follow several hairpin bends and you will come to a fork in the forest roads.
(5) Take a sharp right turn and, 600 metres further on, turn right again onto a grassy path. Pass the Ariethal farm, go under the Ariethal Viaduct and continue along the white path to the church in Exermont.
(6) Continue straight ahead towards the village exit and follow the D142 towards Grandpré until you reach the D946.
(7) First turn right then left and take the D142 towards Châtel-Chéhéry. Pass in front of Chéhéry Abbey, then turn right at the crossroads.
(8) At the campsite, at the corner of No. 5, turn right onto the white gravel path and climb towards the Château de Châtel-Chéhéry. At the Y-junction, turn left and head up towards Châtel Chéhéry Castle. In front of the castle, climb a short steep slope and turn left. Walk up the main street, Laloy Chenet, past the church, and continue on the D4. You will come to a low wall and the corner of No. 2.
(9) Go up to the right, then turn right again 50 metres further on, towards Le Perroquet. Follow this small road, which then turns into a track.
(10) At the junction between the road and the forest track, turn right onto the track and pass a picnic area. At the four-way junction, go straight ahead and join the three-way junction that follows.
(11) Turn right onto the white path. Cross the woods, staying on the same path, and reach the four-way intersection you passed at the start. Continue to the left and head towards Place de la Mairie (S/E).
