Description of the walk

Auvers-sur-Oise station car park: to access it, take the left turn after the bridge over the Oise when coming from the N184. You can also get there via the SNCF - Auvers-sur-Oise station.

(S/E) Leave the station car park on the left, cross the SNCF bridge and continue up the hill opposite, leaving Rue Daubigny on your left and then two paths on your right.

(1) At the top of the hill, at the crossroads, take the path on the right to reach the cemetery. Continue straight ahead on the road that runs along the left side of the cemetery. Cross the road and take Chemin des Vallées opposite. Ignore the two paths on the left.

(2) When you reach the end of the path, at Chemin Vert, turn left.

(3) Cross the road at Les Rougemonts and continue right along the path, then take the next left.

(4) Near the Ferme du Vieux Château, turn left. At the next crossroads, continue straight ahead to reach a road at Le Perruchet.

(5) Follow it to the left for about 300 metres. Turn right onto the path that descends to Ravine des Vallées and joins the GR®1.

(6) At the hairpin bend, turn left (GR®-PR®), keep right and join a tarmac road on the right, the Chemin des Vallées au Veau.

(7) Follow this tarmac road, then continue along Rue Daubigny. When you see the museum, leave Rue Daubigny on the right and take Rue de la Sansonne.

(8) Exit this street on the left and you will come out onto Rue du Général de Gaulle. Cross the street to reach the Town Hall. Continue on your left until you reach the SNCF bridge and turn right twice to reach the car park (S/E).

A change
Before reaching point 6, which is at the very bottom of the ravine, there is a fork to the left that leads to an observation site that has been set up to showcase the geology of the region. There is a sign at the entrance to the path leading to the site, where there are other signs and a small path on the right that leads to the GR1 at the bottom of the ravine.
Once we leave the tourists who visit Van Gogh's grave in the cemetery during weekday holidays, we have the path to ourselves.
