Park at the Lutzelbach sports ground, Rue de Lutzelbach in Ribeauvillé.
(S/E) Take the paved path marked with a red rectangle (GR®5) which starts on the left at the back of the car park. It runs alongside the vineyards and then climbs through the forest to the Château de Saint-Ulrich.
(1) At the château, continue on the path marked with a yellow cross (towards the nursery) which runs alongside the keep. It remains level until you reach a place called Kahlfels.
(2) At the Kahlfels crossroads, continue along the Yellow Cross trail slightly to the right. It descends then climbs again before reaching a crossroads nestled in a valley.
(3) Take the path up to the right that runs alongside the stream. A sign indicates Cerisier Noir with a blue triangle marker. After a steep climb, you will reach the Fontaine du Hêtre crossroads. Turn right and you will soon reach Cerisier Noir.
(4) At the Cerisier Noir crossroads, cross over and take the path marked with a red ring (towards Thannenkirch) until you reach the crossroads with an oratory.
(5) Leave the red ring markings, turn right and descend on the red and white rectangle marked path until you reach a clearing where there is another cross and the Spinnplatz crossroads.
(6) At this large crossroads, take the Red and White Rectangle trail marked "Trois Châteaux" (Three Castles) towards the south, not the one leading to Saint-Ulrich. Keep heading south on the wide forest path, which leaves the Red and White Rectangle trail but rejoins it after a wide left turn.
(7) At this crossroads, turn right towards Château du Haut-Ribeaupierre, on theGR®5marked with a red rectangle. After about a hundred metres, you will come to a crossroads with two paths on the left before reaching the château.
(8) Take thesecond path on the left, signposted Ribeauvillé via the Fontaine du Chevreuil (red and white rectangle markings). After a long descent, you will arrive at the crossroads that joins the yellow cross trail.
(9) Leave the forest path on your right and head south. The Yellow Cross marked trail leads directly back to the starting point in Ribeauvillé (S/E).
