The starting point is at the sports ground at the top of Ribeauvillé (take Rue Klee then Rue de Lutzelbach uphill to the small car park where you can easily park during the week). At weekends, you can park at the top of Rue Klee, as the car park is often full.
(S/E) Take the narrow path that climbs eastwards between the vineyard and the house and continue along the path between the vineyards. Ignore all the paths that branch off to the left until you reach a crossroads where you will find the path marked with yellow triangles.
(1) Go straight ahead. From this point, follow the Altenholz nature trail, marked with a gendarme's hat.
After a kilometre of flat path between woods and vineyards, you will come to a T-junction.
(2) Turn left, pass in front of the old guard house and follow the signs for "route long" (long route). Walk along a fenced-in wood.
(3) Turn right, following the fence.
The single track climbs through the woods to the point where it meets the path marked with blue crosses. Take this path to the left until you reach the Schluesselstein rock (marked by an information board).
(Please note that the 1:25,000 map is incorrect and does not show the Schluesselstein in the right place.
(4) After the rock, ignore the two paths that branch off to the left and continue on the path marked with blue crosses until you reach a carriage road. Continue on this road to the right, ignoring the paths to the right and left, until you reach Carrefour du Cerisier Noir. At this crossroads, there is a huge cherry tree.
(5) At the crossroads, take a steep path on the left that descends towards the Fontaine du Hêtre (marked with blue triangles).
(6) Pass in front of the fountain and continue on the same path to the top of the Dusenbach Monastery.
(7) At this point, you can take a detour through the monastery, but you will then have to retrace your steps. Do not take the road, as it is very dangerous.
Then descend towards Ribeauvillé, following the path marked with blue triangles, which at this point is called the "Sentier Maria Raydt".
You will reach the D416 road and turn left towards Ribeauvillé.
(8) At the roundabout, go straight ahead (no entry for cars). You will arrive at a small square where you turn left onto the steep street marked "Accès lycée" (school access). At the top of the hill, continue straight ahead and you will arrive at the sports ground (S/E).
