The hike starts at the car park of the church in Béthancourt-en-Valois (Oise department).

(S/E) Follow Rue de l'Église westwards and, a little further on, turn right into the Patou footpath which joins the D332 departmental road, where you turn right. Cross the pretty River Automne. Continue straight ahead, cross the D123 and after a left-hand bend, leave the D332 at the next bend (on the right) and continue on the marked path straight ahead.
The path runs alongside a copse and crosses a tarmac road. Continue straight ahead along the path that descends behind a property and arrives at Rue de Visery in the village of Orrouy.
(1) At No. 25 on this street, turn right onto the path that runs alongside the stream until you reach the track, where you turn left to climb up to Rue de la Forêt (D116).
(2) Keep right and, at the fork, go left and climb up to the plateau via Rue du Chauffour. Turn left to cross the plateau and, in the middle of the T-junction, turn right. Continue to the crossroads where you will see a monument commemorating the Champlieu tank camp.
(3) Turn left, and 200 m further on you will arrive at the Gallo-Roman ruins
(4). Continue straight ahead until the next crossroads, where the Romanesque chapel is on your left, hidden in a grove.
(5) Turn left and continue to the hamlet of Champlieu, which you will cross. At the end of the hamlet, descend into the valley via the path straight ahead.
The path leads to the Château de la Motte.
(6) Turn left and continue to the D123.
(7). Cross the road, cross the Automne river near an old mill and climb back up to the plateau via a track that leads to a tarmac road near a reservoir.
No signposts
(8) Turn left and follow this road. At the junction with the D332, cross and continue straight ahead to the car park of the church in Béthancourt-en-Valois (S/E).
