Park in the car park at Place de l'Église.
(S/E) Opposite the hiking signs, turn right onto Rue François Albert, which passes in front of the primary school (the start of the route is signposted in pink and red). Continue along this street, leaving the two junctions with Rue des Villiers on your right.
At the junction (with a give-way sign), turn right onto Rue de la Croix, which goes downhill, and follow the hairpin bend.
At the next junction, turn left (D40 towards Poitiers) and cross the bridge over the Boivre.
(1) At the entrance to the sports ground, take the path on the left which climbs into the forest. Immediately, at the fork, follow the path furthest to the right. You are walking along an ancient Roman road.
As you leave the forest, cross the tarmac road and continue straight ahead.
(2) At the next junction, leave the pink markings by turning right. At the tarmac road, turn left. Cross the D40 (with care) and continue straight on along Rue du Lac.
(3) Take the first path on the right, which leads into the forest (return to the pink markings).
At the first fork, continue to the left, then, at the next junction, leave the pink markings by turning right and then immediately left at the yellow arrow.
Continue along this path which descends to the bottom of the valley, leaving the first path that climbs to your right. At the T-junction, turn left (blue and yellow/redGR® markings) and continue along this path, which curves to the right and crosses the Ruisseau de la Torchaise opposite the Prêle aqueduct (built in the late 19th century on the route of a Gallo-Roman aqueduct).
(4) After the aqueduct, continue straight on along theGR® as it climbs through the forest. You will pass a manhole at the side of the path providing access to the aqueduct’s underground section. At the top of the hill, stay on theGR® which continues straight ahead and, at the next T-junction, turn right at a 90° angle.
(5) Once you reach the Route du Bois Canais, leave theGR® by turning right, then immediately left (Rue des Chails) into a small housing estate.
At the end of the street, leave the blue markings by turning right. Return to the pink markings.
Continue straight on when the tarmac road turns into a dirt track. At the water treatment plant, take the path on the right. Once back on the road, turn left and head down towards La Boivre, crossing the bridge.
(6) Take the path opposite the bridge, marked by two green barriers. Return to the Roman road.
At the top, continue straight on towards the Place de l'Église (S/E).
