From Les Baux-de-Provence, take the D27 towards Maillane. At the pass, shortly after passing through the road carved between the rocks and just before descending, turn right onto the small paved road that climbs to the orientation table. Parking is available just opposite this climb, before thefirst bend (under the "holed" rock).
GR® trail markers (white and red)
(S/E) Descend towards the pass via a path parallel to the tarmac road that brought you to the car park. It leads to the D27, which you cross (take care, poor visibility) to take the AL109 track almost opposite.
(1) Go through the gate and continue along this main track, ignoring the numerous paths on the right and left. About 1 km after the gate, you will see a buried cistern on the left. Shortly after, a track starts on the right.
Unmarked
(2) Leave theGR® and turn right onto this track. After about 300m, take the first track on the left (you have to be on it to see it). Continue on this track until you reach another track. Note an iron stake on the left, the remains of a sign that has disappeared.
GR® (white and red) andPR® (yellow) markings
Turn left (the track climbs) then, quickly (200m), in a hairpin bend, ignore the track on the right and turn left again.
Not marked
(3) About a hundred metres further on, almost at the top of the climb, take the first path on the right (unmarked, cross on the trees). Ignore the track that starts immediately on the right and continue straight ahead. The track descends. Make a large loop, then a smaller, tighter loop at an intersection.
(4) Continue downhill to the right, ignoring the track that climbs up opposite. At the bottom of this track, in a right-angle bend, facing an old open gate, turn right. From this point, you will see a green gate a few metres away on the left, which may be open or closed (I have encountered both).
(5) This is the start of another track that is not very visible at first (head towards the barrier). Go up this track until you reach a crossroads.
(6) Ignore the path that descends to the right and the one immediately to the left and continue straight ahead on the middle path. You will come to a crossroads. Ignore the first path on the right and a few metres further on.
GR® markings (white and red)
(7) Turn left onto a larger track followed by theGR®6. You will come to a junction with signposts.
(8) Stay with theGR® on the same track that turns left towards "Saint-Rémy / Les Baux". Ignore the paths, which become more numerous in the Alpilles, on either side of this main track. Further on, notice an underground cistern on the left where a track starts, which you will ignore.
Unmarked
(9) Take the track on the right that descends for about one kilometre (leave theGR® trail on your left). This will take you to a small paved road.
(10) Follow the road to the left. Shortly afterwards, leave the road and descend to the right onto a dirt track. After the bottom of the valley, the track climbs back up to the road you left earlier. Follow the road to the right to reach the D27 pass.
(1) Turn right, then immediately left to return to the car park (S/E).
