In Pérols-sur-Vézère, park in the car park near the town hall, to the east of the village. This hike is marked in green; do not worry about the other routes that you will come across many times.
(S/E) Return to the centre of the village, passing in front of the town hall again, and take the first street on the left, towards the sign for "Sentier des moulins de Razel" (Razel Mills Trail). Look out for the green markings, which you should follow throughout this route. Pass in front of a fountain, then at a large picnic area, take the path on the right and cross the Pérols stream.
(1) Shortly afterwards, cross over the railway line. The path veers left to run alongside the railway line at a higher level. Ignore two paths that branch off to the right. Further on, in the beech forest, note a green sign at the top of a tree indicating that the site is protected to provide a habitat for bats. Ignore another path on the right and you will arrive at Razel at a crossroads marked with a cross.
(2) Ignore the various signs for other hiking routes and turn immediately left onto a grassy path to the left of a house. You will find the green markings again a little further on. Shortly afterwards, the path crosses the railway line again.
Shortly afterwards, ignore a path on the left and turn right, passing through a wooden barrier. You will arrive at the mills (information sign, three mills on a network of canals built on the Pérols stream). Follow the path that climbs to the left of the mill on the far right, passing through wooden barriers. You will arrive at a road (opposite, information panel about the mills; on the right, a bridge over the Pérols stream).
(3) Follow the road to the left. At the crossroads, near a barn and a cross, at the entrance to the hamlet of Chaumeil, continue to the right. Ignore all the small roads on the right and continue to the hamlet of Les Lives, where you will come to a crossroads with four roads, near a cross.
(4) Continue straight ahead towards La Beige Haute. At the crossroads with the D979, cross (caution! busy road, no speed limit) and follow the path opposite.
(5) At the four-way crossroads, turn left. Then follow this wide path until you reach a fork with a grassy path.
(6) Follow this path to the left. Ignore a path on the right further on.
(7) At the intersection by a small menhir (common in the region but not particularly spectacular), keep to the right. Further on, cross a road and continue straight ahead to reach the houses of the hamlet of La Bussière. Keep left, ignoring the paths on the right, pass a beautiful openwork cross and cross the D979 again (caution! busy road, no speed limit).
(8) Continue straight ahead, along the cemetery, to reach the village of Pérols (depending on the year, there may be a poster festival in the village). To the right of the church, note a well topped with a beautiful openwork cross , then turn left to reach the town hall and the car park (S/E).
